No fewer than 593 new students have been matriculated at Achievers University, Owo for new Academic session.
The students were matriculated into: College of Basic Health Sciences, Engineering Technology, Law, Natural and Applied Sciences and Social and Management Sciences.
Speaking at the occasion, the Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Bode Ayorinde stated that Achievers University bears the trademark of discipline, maintaining that any students found culpable shall be punished accordingly.
The founder, who confidently said the citadel of learning would not compromise its standard, enjoined the students to imbibe the kernel of hardwork, good character and morals.
Ayorinde noted that students who ended up in academic fiasco designed their failure as they stayed aloof from lectures, examination.
He, however, recommended that students should read for a minimum of two hours per day.
In his speech, the Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Samuel Olabanji Aje, counselled the new students to shun social vices and other societal decadence capable of inhibiting their dreams.
He explained that students with impeccable character will conspicuously float in a competitive environment, while imploring the matriculants to take advantage of the facilities that are available in the University.
Corroborating the stance of the Vice-Chancellor, the guest lecturer, Morounfoluwa Arodudu, attributed the causes of social vices to poor parenting, unemployment, peer pressure and indolence.
Morounfoluwa who spoke during his lecture entitled, ‘Navigating the slippery but enticing path of social vices’, said laziness on the part of students’ engenders examination malpractice.
The alumnus urged the matriculants to make education a priority in their scale of preference.
