Breaking: Uncertainty as Truck crushes people in Akure

Report says a major accident has occured to this evening on Oba-Ile- Airport road, Akure, the Ondo state capital.

SUNSHINETRUTH gathered that a truck lost control and killed yet to be confirmed number of people.

Eyewitness account said only three persons lost their lives while some were injured.
The accident which occurred along the Akure Airport road in Oba-Ile was said to have been caused by over-speeding by the driver of the trailer.

Eyewitness account stated that the truck which was on top speed drove dangerously and hit the Toyota Camry from the rear and later swerved to the opposite direction.

As the truck hit the Toyota Camry, the car, according to the source, lost control and hit the motorcyclist, popularly referred to as ‘Coach’ and his passenger who died on the spot.

The incident was said to have caused traffic gridlock for several hours as other commercial motorcyclists in the area blocked the road and prevented vehicles from moving.

A woman who narrowly escaped death in the accident told our correspondent that she took her baby away from the scene of the accident just few minutes before the incident occurred.

It took the intervention of men of the Federal Road Safety Commission to clear the road while the remains of the victims have been deposited at the morgue.

Those who were injured were also taken to an undisclosed hospital in Akure for treatment.
