The Commander Ondo state Security Network Agency codename Amotekun corps, Chife Adetunji Adeleye has stressed the need for training and retraining of officers of the command to be able to deliver on their mandate in keeping it men abreast on the world best practices in enhancing security and stamping out crimes.
The Amotekun boss disclosed this during the opening of the ongoing Five-day Training the trainers programme organised by the Ondo state government at the University of medical sciences (School of Nursing), campus along Igbatoro road Akure.
According to him, the workshop is to equip the officers and men to be able to rid of all crimes and conflicts through intelligence report gathering which aligns with the vision and mission of the Corps in developing structures and training strategies that would contribute to national security.
“It is actually a training of the world’s best practices in reporting investigation and counter attack.
“We brought in security experts legal experts from different parts of the country. Now we have been opportuned through the office of Director of public prosecutor to take suspects to court.
“We also want to teach and remind our Officers the act of statement taking, witness handling and general information management.
“We expect them to be more profined in carrying out their duties to be able to deliver to our employers.
He said, “We needs to ensure and maintain a mentally sound workforce in the fight against crime and criminal activities in Ondo State. Our men and officials are to strengthen the linkages between the corps and other security agencies in the state.
“The re-training workshop is specifically designed to educate, inform and remind officers and men of the command on their mission to stamp out crime and guarantee safety of lives and properties of the good people of Ondo state.”
Adeleye expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Ondo state Olarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu for giving the Corp the great opportunity for the training program assured that it men would adiquatly utilise the opportunity to ensure safety of the indigenous people of the state.
Adding that that the training the trainer programme for it men would bring confidence and credibility into the concept of security, thereby justifying the identity and existence the corps
Ogunlawo Owagoriaye who spoke on behalf of the trainers thanked the state government as the program have increased their intelligent quotient, and promised to do their best.
The participants of the training the trainer course program include the local government administrators, operational Officers and other officers in the command.
