…holds 3rd Convocation Thursday
To continue to pursue its academic excellence, Millennium College of Health Technology, Akure, in the Ondo State capital on Tuesday matriculated no fewer than 356 fresh students for 2020/2021 academic session.
The freshers were admitted into various departments of the College to study different courses.
At the colourful 8th matriculation ceremony held at the school auditorium, the Provost of the private health institution, Mrs Ayodele Adinlewa, advised the matriculating students to face their education which is their primary assignment in the school and shun all forms of social vices that could jeopardise their future.
She disclosed that all the programmes in the nine departments in the College have been fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the various professional bodies.
The departments include: School of Biomedical Engineering; School of Community Health; School of Environmental Health Technology; School of Dental Therapy; School of Dispensing Opticianry; School of Health Information Management; School of Health Assistance; School of Medical Laboratory; School of Medical Image Processing and Pharmacy Technician.
The Provost who said the College would continue to focus on its core purpose which is to improve health service delivery in the country, further charged the freshers to shun all forms of deviant behaviours and examination malpractices but strive for excellence, saying the school has provided all necessary facilities to make them be the best they can be in future.
“The vision is to raise quality, skillful and self-reliant middle level health personnel who are capable of making modest contributions to national health development while the mission is to develop and improve Public Health Services nationwide and beyond, through the pursuit of excellence in manpower training, research and effective service delivery.
“Our efforts have been yielding good success and we give all the glory to God. I’m glad to inform you that the College recorded 100% in the 2020 final Board examination in the departments of Medical Imaging and Processing, Dispensing Opticianry, Pharmacy Technician and Community Health. The department of Medical Lab recorded 93%, being the best result in this profession all over the Nation “, Mrs Adinlewa added.
Adinlewa who was represented by the Director, Academic Affairs, Pharm (Dr.) Adesanya Olamide, also re-emphasized that the College has zero tolerance for any forms of misconduct, adding that authority of the College would not hesitate to sanction any breach of their matriculation Oath.
The College would also hold its 3rd Convocation Ceremony on Thursday this week.
Other principal officers present at the 8th Matriculation Ceremony include the Chairperson of the College Governing Council, Mrs Caroline Ogunbadenusi; the Registrar, Mr. Awoniyi Sola; the Bursar, Mrs Alice Dupe-Balogun; the Librarian, Mrs. Samuel Kosoko and the Students Affairs Officer, Mrs Ogunro Bosede, among other management staff.
Parents and guardians of the matriculating students also graced the ceremony.
Speaking with journalists in separate interviews, some of the matriculating students including Alabi Samuel from department of Medical Laboratory Technician; Omobodunwa Deborah, department of Health Information Management and Sunday Ruth of the Environmental Health Technology, appreciated God for making their admission successful while also promise to strive hard to achieve academic excellence.
