There seems to be a new dimension to the crimes of kidnapping and other crimes in Akoko area of Ondo state, as suspected criminals now attack their victims inside their houses.
SUNSHINETRUTH gathered that the latest of such incident was the reported onslaught on residents of Daja Ajowa in Akoko northwest local government area around one Yekini Oludotun’s house, even as they had sleepless night over sporadic shooting by the criminals who either wanted to kidnap or assassinate Yekini who is a cattle dealer, but the kidnappers were prevented by joint security operatives in the area.
The report had it that a senior security officer mobilised his men to dislodge.
The same group of criminals had earlier operated at another place in the town where they allegedly shot dead two sons of a farmer, Mr Dele and two other children abducted on tuesday night, but a security source said only one person was killed in the incident.
A source told our reporter that a combined security men including soldiers, policemen and Amotekun operatives are already in Ajowa Akoko forest to fish out the criminal elements that are terrorising the area in the recent time.
Residents of the area are now living in fears and called on government to redouble their actions to put an end to incessant kidnapping and killings of innocent residents of the area.
Efforts to speak with the Okeagbe Akoko Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), SP Ade Akinwande were not successful as at wednesday as he was said to have led his men to the forest in search of the gang.
In the recent times Ajowa, Akunnu and Ikaram, Ifira Akoko axis had been in the news for crimes like kidnapping robberies and killing of travelers due to their closeness to both Edo and kogi states where the suspected criminals are to be operating from, strike in Ondo state and escaped to the neighbouring states.
The state police spokesman, Tee-Leo Ikoro is yet to react to the incident as at the time of filing in this story.
