Ondo govt shut down 15 out of 36 Hospitals, as Operators meet waterloo

The Ondo state government has shut down 15 out of 36 private hospitals and clinics for alleged illegal operations and promoting quackery; SUNSHINETRUTH can report.

Similarly, 15 operators of the health facilities were also apprehended for allegedly operating private hospitals below the required standard in Ondo South Senatorial district.

The Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Health, Pharmacist Folukemi Aladenola, who disclosed this, said the suspects were arrested in the district following an operation carried out by officials of the Ministry  in the axis.

She noted that with the affected hospitals sealed off by the ministry, the suspects were accused of operating unethically and violating the stipulated rules and regulations guiding operation of health facilities in the state.

According to the Permanent Secretary, the move became necessary towards sanitizing the health sector of the state against quackery.

Aladelola who noted that the development would enhance qualitative healthcare delivery in the state, emphasized that the officials visited 36 medical clinics located in Ore, Odigbo, Okitipupa, Ilutitun, and Iju-Odo among others.

Also speaking, the Head of the Monitoring team and Director, Hospital Services in the state Ministry of Health, Dr. Ayodele Adelusi, said all the affected facilities will not be re-opened until the necessary requirements were met.
