Ondo NUJ lauds Akeredolu for fixing Akure-Owo road, seeks FG’s actions on bad Akure-Ado Ekiti road

THE COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE CONGRESS OF THE NIGERIA UNION OF JOURNALISTS (NUJ), ONDO STATE COUNCIL, HELD ON THURSDAY 30TH SEPT, 2021 AT THE PRESS CENTRE, PEN CRESCENT, ALAGBAKA-AKURE

After extensive deliberations by members, the following decisions were taken:

  1. That the Congress enjoins journalists in Ondo state to give full support to the 2021 Press Week Committee to organize another memorable celebrations slated for last week of November, 2021.
  2. That the Congress commends the Ondo State Government for recent successes recorded in the management of Waste and urges the Ondo State Waste Management Authority to sustain the trend of ensuring that the state especially Akure remains Clean City.
  3. That the State government should devise new strategies to manage the DUMP SITE located on Igbatoro/Imafon road in Akure to prevent looming epidemic in the area.
  4. That while expressing Satisfaction and Applauding the Responsive leadership Traits of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in fixing deplorable Ogbese section of Akure-Owo Road, the Union pleads with the State Ministry of Land and Infrastructure to come up with plans to fix portholes on major roads within Akure metropolis.
  5. That the Congress which expresses concern over terrible condition of Akure-Ado Ekiti Highway for years, calls on the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola to mobilise contractors to reconstruct the road which has collapsed totally. The Union also appeals to Governors Kayode Fayemi and Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as well as members of the National Assembly from Ondo and Ekiti States to mount pressure on the federal government to fix the road in the interest of the people who suffer on the route daily.
  6. That Ondo State Delegates are fully preparing to be part of the forthcoming NUJ National Triennial Delegates Conference slated for Umuahia, Abia state.
  7. That the Congress appreciates the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Segun Odusanya for sponsoring “NUJ Jazz Night” held on 30th September, 2021 at the Press Centre, Akure after during our Monthly Congress.
