The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists and two other burglars for shop breaking and robbery in Akure and Igbaraoke in Ifedore local government area of the state.
SUNSHINETRUTH gathered that the four suspected cultists arrested at Arakale in Akure include; Abiola Akinlowo ‘m’ Aged 25; Yakubu Lattef ‘m’ Aged 21; Abdulwaheed Abibu ‘m’ Aged 25; Emeka Ali ‘m’ Aged 25 while one Opeyemi Olotu ‘m’ Aged 14 years and Blessing Arohunmolase ‘m’ Aged 17 years were apprehended at Igbaraoke.
Confirming this to SUNSHINETRUTH in Akure, the state Police Spokesperson, Mrs Funmi Odunlami explained that the suspects were nabbed for shop breaking, burglary and stealing.
Odunlami said, “on 10th September, 2021, at about 2200hrs, information was received that a gang of Armed Robbers were trying to break into a shop at Arakale Area of Akure, Ondo State. Upon the receipt of this information, Detectives attached to the Special Squad of the Command, swung into action and arrested the following suspects:-
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and stated that Shop Breaking was their area of specialization and had broken into 3 Shops in Arakale Area to steal goods. Investigation further revealed that the culprits are Cultists, belonging to Eiye fraternity Cult.
“The following items were recovered from them:- Three Axes, One Hammer, Six Plasma Televisions, One Generator, Seven Tecno handsets, Four Itel 5360 handsets, Eleven Power Banks, One wall fan, Phone Accessories, A bag containing new clothes and One dagger.”
“Also, On 3rd October, 2021, at about 1600hrs, the Police Patrol Team of Igbaraoke Division, intercepted one Opeyemi Olotu ‘m’ Aged 14 years and Blessing Arohunmolase ‘m’ Aged 17 years, both of Odo-Ode Igbaraoke with Mobile Phones accessories valued at Two Hundred Thousand Naira Only (₦200,000.00).
“During interrogation they confessed to have burgled the shop of one Olumide Folorunsho, a Phone accessories seller, on 2nd October, 2021, at about 0100hrs. Emmanuel Sunday, ‘m’, Aged 11 years who was formerly at large, had also been arrested.
The PPRO disclosed that the suspects would soon be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations by policemen.
