Akure Reps Bye-Election: Why I’m the best to replace ‘Hon Expensive’ —Babatunde Faro

A consultant and PDP Chieftain in Akure South local government area of Ondo State, Babatunde Emmanuel Faro, has joined the race to replace the late member of the House of Representatives from Akure North/Akure South federal constituency, Omolafe Adedayo (aka Expensive); SUNSHINETRUTH can report.

He declared that his qualities as a young, vibrant, community-oriented as well as his exposure and connection to facilitate development will give him upper hand over his opponents both at the primary and the bye-election.

Faro who is from Isolo Ward 10 Odo Ikoyi, Akure, at a media parley on thursday in Akure, pointed out that he is not a newcomer in Akure politics as he has been a card carrying member and financial member of PDP for more than five years.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is expected to fix date for the House of Reps bye-election in Akure South/Akure North federal constituency after receiving notice of vacancy from the National Assembly.

Babatunde Faro, who noted that he has been contributing to the growth of Akure community even when he did not plan to contest political office, highlighted some of his impacts in Akure metropolis to include construction of a road at Alagbaka, repairing of Isolo- Okoro axis road, sinking of boreholes and financial assistance to some elderly people and youths in the capital city.

He noted that he has been assisting the PDP, the people and the community over the years, pointing out that he is seeking election to the House of Reps to enable him further give the federal constituency a more focused, quality and result-oriented representation.

Faro explained that he would use his exposure and connection in Abuja and globally to facilitate development to Akure South and Akure North local government areas which have been suffering from infrastructural decay, lamenting the deploreable Akure-Ado Ekiti road.

He promised to sustain the legacies of late Omalafe at the National Assembly if elected, insisting that PDP is strong enough in the federal constituency to defeat the ruling APC.

Faro who described the 2020 PDP governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, as his hero, visionary leader and pillar of the party over the years, appealed to the leadership of the PDP to ensure that the House of Reps candidate for the bye-election was selected through a transparent and credible process to give the party brighter chance to retain the vacant seat.

On may be the PDP should use consensus process to pick its candidate, Faro said he is confident that he would be considered considering his qualities.

Babatunde Emmanuel Faro was born to the family of Elder Rufus Obe
Faro and Mrs Omolola Nurat Faro on the 22nd July 1986 in the capital city
of Akure in Ondo State.

Babatunde started his working career at Librod Chemicals Limited, Port
Harcourt in 2007 after which he joined Equitorial Trust Bank Limited in 2008 which signaled the start of a banking career that spanned over 11
years across several banks such as Diamond Bank Plc and Access Bank
Plc.

Mr Babatunde Faro left Access Bank Plc in August 2019 to assume
the role of Chief Executive Officer of Emerald Medals Group (A diversified
Nigerian business and financial consultancy firm based in Abuja focused in the business of Healthcare equipment sales/distribution, Financial Advisory and consulting).

Babatunde is a member of the People’s Democratic Party with ward 10 as his local Ward. Babatunde has supported the party in several ways by contributing to the following course of the party;

Faro told newsmen some of his efforts for the community and the PDP, “Welfare support to party members & Payment of 2019/2019 office rent for PDP Ward 10 (NGN45,000). Specific Intervention to support PDP Wards.

“Provision of Borehole Facility and water points for Residence of Okoro Street

“Location -34 Okoro Street, Isolo Quarters, Akure NGN1,000,000

“In 2016, Construction of 650meters Interlocked road with stonebase, and double side drainage at Anglican
Estate, Alagbaka, Abuja
NGN14,000,000

“In 2017, Extension of electricity to Silo Area of Oda road, extending from Kajola Area NGN3,800,000

“In 2021, Regular Intervention in donating items necessary for livelihood to Ago Ireti, Graceland Orphanage, Olokuta Prisons, etc
(NGN600,000)

“In 2021, Emergency repairs of failed portion of Okoro Street, Isolo from okoro to entrance of ajayeoba (NGN500,000).”

Faro also enumerated some of his agenda for the federal constituency if elected.

“CALL TO SERVE: Will listen and humbly attend to issues. Will roll up my sleeve from Day 1 as the work at hand is very huge.

“Does not intend to take a kobo from all Salaries /Allowances as all salaries and allowance will fully-100% utilized for the people.

“Will extend financial support to the widow and family of the Late Hon Adedayo Omolafe to aid them.

“Completion of all pending programs and projects of Hon Adedayo Omolafe Osi civic centre, Omoniyi Hospital, etc

“Publish openly every month all money received and expenditure to every constituent of Akure to the last kobo.

“Aggressively lobby for projects, employment opportunities, empowerment training for
Akure indigenes and residence.

“Renovation of all ward offices, LGA offices of the PDP to make them very modern and comfortable-Within 90 Days of swearing in.

“Set up a fully automated functional constituency office with all necessary working tools to intervene in the welfare of constituents thus decentralization of support disbursement,” Faro said.

Projects

He used the media parley to dismiss a rumour that he is being sponsored by the state former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, describing such as a mere cheap political blackmail.

Faro said he had never met Agboola in his life more than once which is this year, even before the death of Hon Omolafe.
