As the 2023 general election approach, Christians have been charged to be more politically active and to vie for elective public positions in the country to run the nation with fear of God.
The President and General Overseer of United Apostolic Church of Christ(UACC), Dr James Bayo Owoyemi made the call at the close of the church’s convention in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Sunday.
Owoyemi noted that the call became necessary because if god-fearing people stayed away from politics, the wicked would continue to rule the nation.
While charging all members of the fold to listen to and ensure they identify the voice of Christ Jesus, the cleric said, “Christians have roles to play in nation-building. Christians must be involved in politics. It is in the bible that we should obey the people in authority.
“If Christians run away from politics, then they cannot be voted for and whoever gets there, we will be subjected to them.”
The UACC President who charged all Christians occupying political offices to do things according to God’s order said they should remember that they are representatives of God and the people would be expecting them to exude godly dispositions in their manner of operations.
The cleric admonished members of his church to do according to the will of God so that they could receive the good promises of Christ, the Good Shepherd.
Some members of the church who stood out in the work in the vineyard were given awards for their meritorious performances.
