The 3rd edition of Babatunde football competition has begun in Ile-Oluji, the headquarters of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo local government area of Ondo State at the Ile-Oluji township stadium.
In a statement signed by the sponsor of the annual football tournament, Babatunde Mario and made available to newsmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital said his passion for sports, especially football is because he wishes to catch them (talents) young and develop the round leather game at the grassroots.
Mario added that the 3rd edition would be unique, because there would be fantastic prizes to be won and talents would be discovered by clubs within and outside the state.
The game is shedules to start from 6th to 29th December, 2021 and expected to feature players from Ile-Oluji and Okeigbo.
Mario stressed that he has invested in grassroots soccer development for some years to discourage youths from crimes and other social atrocities associated with joblessness and idleness and engage them in sporting activities.
He added that grasses have taken over the Ile-Oluji township stadium sometimes ago, but he took the challenge upon himself by clearing and cleaning the football pitch and the entire stadium to the present statues.
He, therefore called on well meaning Nigerians in the society to invite in sports, which he said would go a long way at eradicating unemployment in the society.
