The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, Dr. Bode Ayorinde, has charged the graduands of the Institution to imbibe the kernel of hard work and build more on their good character.
Ayorinde, who spoke at the 10th Induction of the 94 new MLS graduates, urged the inductees to display high level of competitive professionalism they had learnt in the labour market.
He, however, said since the University bears the trademark of discipline and altruism, hence, it would continue to live aboveboard, advising the students to be patient and creative in achieving their set goals.
Ayorinde said the university would continue to pursue academic excellence that would make it one of the best in the country and the world.
Earlier, the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN), Dr. Tosan Erhabor, lauded the feats recorded by school, most especially the newly built faculty of Engineering.
Erhabor, who was represented by Dr. M.A Azeez, stated that the council is committed to the development of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The Registrar also reminded the inductees to uphold the ethics of the profession, adding that the qualitative education received should be part them.
Meanwhile, Prof. Wellington Oyibo has decried the weak health system of the country, this is just as he revealed that access to diagnosis remain a critical challenge in the world.
The Don stated this at the induction, in his lecture entitled, “the role of Medical Laboratory Science In Disease Surveillance In The 21ST Century”.
He pointed out that poor diagnostic preparedness has contributed to significant delays in the identification of recent multiple pathogens which include but not limited to Ebola, Lassa fever, yellow fever, Zika.
However, Oyibo enjoined the graduands to have working knowledge of the professional ethics that governs the profession and patients in general.
