Xmas: Assembly Aspirant, Adewole Ayodeji donates Grinding Machines, Rice, Cash to Widows in Akure

A House of Assembly aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adewole Ayodeji, widely known as Major Dee, has presented grinding machines, food items and cash to widows and APC members in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state.

Ayodeji, the managing director of Major Dee Motors, Abuja, is eyeing the Akure South Constituency 2 seat in the Ondo State House of Assembly.

Five widows, from each of the five wards in the constituency, were empowered with grinding machines while no fewer than 150 widows were gifted rice and cash to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

APC leaders and members from the constituency also went home with rice and cash.

It was learnt that this is not the first time Ayodeji would put smiles on the faces of widows in Akure as the initiative was said to have been in existence since 2018.

While presenting the items to the beneficiaries on Wednesday in Akure, the Ondo state capital, Ayodeji said it was a covenant between him and God to assist widows.

“I am not doing this because I want to contest any election. It is a covenant between me and my God to use part of whatever I am blessed with to assist widows. They are vulnerable people. We must always show empathy to them.

“Yes, I have interest in contesting for the seat of Akure south constituency 2 in the House of Assembly in 2023. Let me say here that the motivation is service to my people. Nothing more.

“If I have the support of God and that of the people, and I realise the aspiration, it will offer me a bigger platform to assist our people. It will enlarge the coast of assistance. It will give me an opportunity to render purposeful and productive service.

“This initiative started in 2018. We will continue to do it by the grace of God. We will organise another one during Easter next year. Then, another set of widows will also benefit,” Ayodeji said.

Chairman of the occasion and former Chairman of the Ondo State Sports Council, Elder Mike Adeyeye, thanked Ayodeji on behalf of the beneficiaries.

Adeyeye said: “We must thank Ayodeji for his generosity. We must thank him for remembering our widows during this festive period. We pray that God will replenish his pocket.

“We can see that his generosity is the kind that comes from genuine empathy for the people. His generosity is not to gain anything from anybody. It is not because he wants to contest an election. It is because of the kind of person he is.

“So, this is the type of people we need to represent us. We need those who genuinely love our people and feel concerned about their situation.”

The event was was graced by notable APC leaders in Akure South.
