Organised labour in Ondo state has called on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led administration to fulfill its promise of giving priority to the defraying arrears of salaries of workers in the state in the new year.
In a New Year message to workers and a copy obtained by SUNSHINETRUTH in Akure, the labour union said “we have assurances (from government) that Salaries will not only be prompt but the arrears will be defrayed in no distance time.”
“Fellow workers, It has become necessary to make some clarification concerning the payment of salaries and pension in the public service of Ondo State.
“Workers in the State civil service got 235% salaries this month. Though , not enough to clear the arrears of outstanding salaries
“However, following the series of meeting with the Government Representatives as led by the Head of Service in the last few weeks, we have assurances that Salaries will not only be prompt but the arrears will be defrayed in no distance time .
“While we commend the State Government for making payment of salaries and pension a priority at every state allocation meeting in spite of the dwindling finances of states, We also hope that this prompt payment of salary will not be truncated.
“We thank you for your understanding and plead that you continue to keep faith in this as we will no leave stone unturned at ensuring our rights and privileges are guaranteed. Wishing all of us prosperous new year,” the organised labour said.
