Ondo govt brokers truce, asks RUGIPO to lift suspension of SSANIP, NASU

The Ondo state government has brokered peace between the management and leadership of industrial unions (SSANIP and NASU) in the state owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo over the planned strike on the backlog of salary of workers.

Leaders of the unions had issued notice of strike after a meeting with the management on Monday where modalities to defray part of the salary arrears were taken for onward approval of the state government.

The management which did not see any reason for such action, immediately placed a ban on union activities to prevent disruption  of peace,  academic calendar and the 2022 admission process in the institution.

Worried by the development in the institution, the state government conveyed a meeting  between the management and the leadership of the unions where peace agreement was reached and the two parties embraced
truce.

Three major agreements reached include the payment of three months salaries, lifting of suspension on union activities and the maintenance of peace in the interest of students of the institution.

The Institution’s Rector, Mr. Gani Ogundahunsi who had earlier promised the an accord would be reached, thanked the state government for its concern and proactive stance to all issues affecting the people of the state .

Ogundahunsi equally appreciated the workers for their understanding and show of love.

He admonished them to always avoid undue influence in the face of reality.
