Ondo FOMWAN gets new Exco, as Scholars warn against hypocrisy

…showers encomiums on Akinpelumi

It was a new dawn as the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association’s in  Nigeria FOMWAN, Ondo state chapter inaugurated its new Executives just as it showered the outgone Amirah (President), Alhaja Aminat Abibullahi -Akinpelumi with accolades, gifts and an award of excellence.

The new executives led by Alhaja Medinat Omikunle were advised on transparency and good governance, to  work in unity and cooperation and to also carry along all women groups and the local government areas to meet the goals and expectations of the association.

Speaking at the event held on Sunday at the Akure Central Mosque, the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede urged the newly inaugurated executives against hypocrisy and not to be a traitor to the leader but to work towards sustaining the legacies of the founders.

The Imam of Muslim Community, Oke-Ogba in Akure, Alhaji Yusuf Musubaudeen Olalere who delivered a lecture titled: “Leadership and Good Governance and Bedrock of peaceful Coexistence”, applauded FOMWAN for taken the lead in child survival and Health related issues.

He charged them to maintain qualities of good leadership which included transparency, implementing the principles of Quran and Hadith, effecting cross cultural communication and saving awareness while prioritising  confidence in themselves.

According to him, peaceful coexistence could be materialised through mutual respect and sovereignty, being justifiable, reaching out to all and avoiding any form of back biting.

In her goodwill message,  Iya Sunnah of Akure Kingdom, Alhaja Munirat Ogunlayi advised members to be united and work together with all and sundry in order to achieve the desired goals and expectations.

The Imam Igbara-Oke central Mosque in Ifedore local government area, Alhaji Tajudeen Gbadamosi urged them to make history and leave a good legacy, making use of love and cooperation to achieve success.

He charged them on sustaining all FOMWAN programmes and always seek advise from past leaders for excellence.

Earlier, in an opening remark, the assistant Zonal Coordinator With West 2 Nigeria  Alhaja Idayat Jimoh expressed the  encouragement from  the National President, her Zonal Coordinator South West, Alhaja Rafiat Idowu Sanni and Alhaja Sariat  Laoye, to live within the FOMWAN structure met on ground.

She appreciated and thanked members for sustaining the association and applauded the immediate past Amirah for maintaining and sustaining the structure met on ground.

Describing Alhaja Aminat Akinpelumi as ‘Mama protocol’, she said that she deserves the accolades, gifts and award bestowed on her for ensuring that the association maintained its status quo.

In her acceptance speech, the state Amirah, Alhaja Medinat Omikunle who appreciated FOMWAN Board of Advisers and members including the local government areas, appealed for their continuous support and cooperation to turn the worthy legacy of the association into suitable heritage to further strengthen its mission, aims and objectives in showcasing its core values.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of several gift items from individuals, local government areas and an award of excellent performance including a unique Quran presented by the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Akorede while the new executive were presented certificate of authority to steer the mantle of leadership for the next four years.

A female journalist, Alhaja Fatima Muraina was appointed as the State Media Ambassador of the association.
