Akure Reps Bye-Election: Anambra deputy gov heads APC primary committee
The outgoing deputy governor of Anambra state, Mr. Nkem Okeke, has been appointed by the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to head the committee to conduct the primary election of the party to pick the candidate for the Akure South/Akure North federal constituency bye-election into the House of Representatives.
The bye-election holds tomorrow (February 1) and will be by indirect mode of primary.
The seven-man Committee has Ambassador Anthony Ogah as Secretary.
SUNSHINETRUTH gathered that Indirect mode of primary will be adopted.
The seat of Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency became vacant following the death of Isaac Omolafe last year.
It was gathered that a total of 715 delegates would participate in the exercise while eight aspirants would contest the ticket of the party.
The aspirants include Abiodun Derin Adesida, Ademola Adegoroye, Ifedayo Abegunde, Sunday Olajide, Mayokun Lawson-Alade, Dennis Fadairo, Owoyemi Emmanuel and Omowunmi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole.
It was also gathered that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu had at a meeting with the aspirants, urging those who have the funding to participate in the primary adding that the state government would not release funds to whoever emerged as the candidate of the party.
In a reaction, the Publicity Secretary of the party, Alex Kalejaiye, said the party would provide a level playing field for all the aspirants.
