Ondo Engagement Coordinators’ APWECON celebrates World Alaga Day

The Association of Professional Wedding Engagement Coordinators of Nigeria, APWECON, popularly known as Wedding Compere, Ondo state chapter, today organized a rally and road show to celebrate the upcoming WORLD ALAGA DAY which will come up on Tuesday, 15th of February, 2022 in Lagos.
            
The rally which had a large turn up of members from across the eighteen local governments of the state started from the Akure town hall through the Deji of Akure’s place to pay homage, then to the Ondo state Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Adegbemile Cultural Centre, Alagbaka Akure.
             
The APWECON State Governor, Comrade Kikelomo Iyiola, while paying homage to the Deji of Akure, Oba (Dr) Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi said that the rally was being held across  Nigeria and all over the world in which  the preparation had started since October, 2021.
          
She noted that the reason for visiting the Cultural Center was because their profession is part of cultural promotion.

During the Rally

Iyiola explained that the Alaga Day is to bring all members together to relax and enjoy themselves as their work is stressful, hence the need for them to  celebrate, wine and dine together and to let the whole world knows more about their profesion.

She noted that the association had over one thousand registered members in the state.

             
The State Boss, who is a former Ondo State Chairman of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), advised her fellow members to be dutiful, fluent, time conscious, behave themselves and be mindful of their utterances in the public.
               
Addressing them on behalf of the monarch, the chief of staff to the Deji of Akure, Prince Toyin Aladetoyinbo,  expressed his joy and appreciation, adding that the Monarch is unavoidably absent and would relay the members’ message.
                 
Also, the Director, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Mr Olanrewaju Akarakiri while addressing them on behalf of the Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary showed his happiness to have them.

While appreciating them for their roles in promoting culture, the Director encouraged the members to register with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to bring together, all the stakeholders in the cultural sector.
            
He urged them to focus more on the intention behind the association’s vision and not to focus on what they will derive in terms of monetary gain alone.
