A member representing Idanre constituency at the Ondo State House of Assembly; Hon. Festus Akingbaso said he will rebuild the famous Idanre football pitch located at the Technical College.
Hon. Akingbaso also known as OBETE and Fessywest, made the promise while addressing spectators at the closing ceremony of the first Hon. Festus Akingbaso Football Tournament in Idanre town.
The PDP lawmaker who is also a House of Reps Aspirant for Idanre/Ifedore federal constituency, said he was not impressed with the state of the football pitch that had hosted and groomed many footballers who started their career from Idanre to the national level.
Hon. Akingbaso said he would have commenced work immediately but with the ongoing projects he’s embarking on in the local government such as the construction of DSS and Police offices.
The construction of the mini stadium will start in the next three month.
The Idanre born politician after awarding winners and other 12 teams who took part in the football tournament with trophy,medals and cash prizes promised to assist the referees and football administrators in Idanre with a bus for easy transportation.
Hon. Akingbaso promised to sustain the football tournament annually and expose discovered talents to international football clubs in Europe for trials.
While commending Hon. Akingbaso, the House Minority Leader and member representing Akoko Northeast, Hon. Rasheed Elegbeleye described the Idanre lawmaker as a hardworking politician who had been using his personal resources to assist his people.
Another guest, Professor Jejelola Jones appreciated the motive behind the football tournament according to the sponsor which was to help the talented footballs rediscover their skills in football.
Youths, friends, business associates and political party members all trooped out for the glamorous football tournament.
Among them includes the chairman of PDP and Women leader of PDP in Idanre local government,Chairman Ondo state football association; Chief Dele Ajayi represented by the F.A secretary Chief Aladetoyinbo, members of Idanre football association including Pa Afolabi Ogunyamodi among others.
