Women in Owo/Ose federal constituency have been assured of a place of pride in polity and politics of the constituency before and after the forthcoming general election.
The leading aspirant for the Owo/Ose federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives under the ruling party, the APC, Dr Abiola Oshodi, who made the promise during a programme organised by his team for women in the constituency to mark this year’s international women’s day, said he will give priority to bills that will empower, promote and protect women when elected.
The Canada based medical doctor said “I will give priority to bills that will empower and promote our women, and give special attention to issues relating to gender based violence and discrimination against women at all levels”.
“I have been doing in this in my capacity as an individual over the years with my support for the girl child education through my special scholarship scheme and financial support for female entrepreneurs. So, you should expect more of this in a grand scale as your representative”.
The women, in their hundreds, who appreciated Dr Oshodi for being the first man in the constituency to celebrate the international women’s day with them pledged their support for his ambition for recognizing and celebrating them.
March 8th of every year is set aside by the United Nations to celebrate the political, cultural, social and economic achievements of women around the world.
