Ondo Workers boost Amotekun operations with Motorcycles


As part of efforts to boost operations of the security agency, Ondo state Workers under the Joint Negotiating Council have donated 30 motorcycles worth millions of naira to the Southwest Security Network codenamed “Amotekun corps” in the state.

While presenting the motorcycles to the State Amotekun commander, Chairman of the JNC, Comrade OluwaniyiFabunmi, accompanied by Chairmen and Secretaries of trade unions in the state, said the bikes were presented to the corps to aid their operations.

Also speaking, the Ondo State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and National President of the Nigeria Civil Service Union, NCSU, Comrade Sunday Adeleye-Oluwole explained that the gesture was aimed at boosting the morale of Amotekun officers to tackle criminalities especially in the rural areas.

The motorcycles were received by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties, Mr Dare Aragbaiye on behalf of Governor OluwarotimiAkeredolu and handed over to the Amotekun Corps.

Aragbaiye described the gesture as unprecedented at the critical time, urging other corporate bodies and wealthy individuals to support funding of security in the state.

On his part, the State Head of Service, Pastor Adeniran Adeyemo commended the labour under JNC for complementing the government’s investment on security.

Receiving the motorcycles, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security matters and Commander of Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye said the donation would assist them to do more in protecting the people or the state.

Adeleye flanked by the Governor’s SSA on Security matters, Alhaji JimohDojumo sought more support for the corps to further make the state peaceful, saying the motorcycles will be deployed to all the eighteen local government areas of the state.

He announced a twenty – four hour patrol during the Easter celebration to ensure hitch-free festivity.
