Ondo state head of service, Pastor John Adeniran Adeyemo was on Sunday 8th May, 2022, honored as “Man of The Year” at the public lecture and award organized by South West Herald Magazine.
The event which had its theme as “The Life of An Administrator” took place at Ijapo, in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
The publisher of the magazine, Mr Oluwatayo Adu, while welcoming the guests said that his drive for organizing such event is an egalitarian society, a society that is devoid of vices, a society where people can be celebrated and appreciated for being dedicated and committed to what they have chosen to do.
“That is why today’s program is centered on honoring the head of service as an administrator, according to the title of the lecture and he happens to be the sole awardee of today’s event. He will be retiring from service in few month’s times, that is why it is a time for him to be celebrated based on the achievements, dedication and hardwork he has invested since he joined the civil service”.
Mr Ife Oluwole, Registrar, Ekiti State University in his lecture that the skills required to be called a successful administrator in civil service includes ability to manage scarce resources, good organizational skills, good communication skills, ability to work with individuals as a member of a team and as a leader of a team, ability to motivate other members of the team.
Oluwole noted that and administrator is a stabilizer a selfless servant to others, someone who doesn’t have a time of his own and their characteristics or capability includes taking diligence and confidence in the people he leads, maintaining good work relationship with the people that have support him to hold public offices.
He stressed that administrators are not allowed to go into politics, urging administrators to be their best wherever they are.
The Secretary to the state goverment, Princess Oludunni Odu who represented the Governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu SAN, stated that the Governor is so proud of the awardee, Pastor Adeyemo.
Akeredolu described Adeyemo as a man who is dedicated, committed, full of integrity, courageous, he loves the work he’s doing with passion, very calm and gentle.
“You will see that there is no problem between the workers and the government, it is because he is a good person, he knows what he is doing, he took the civil service with zeal and always wants progress in everything he is doing, he carries the people along in all what the government is doing,” the Governor said.
The Award Recipient, Pastor Adeniran Adeyemo, in his response, appreciated God for giving him the opportunity to witness such event and expressed delight for being honoured with such award.
Adeyemo showed his appreciation to the management of SouthWest Herald Magazine for honouring him, Dedicating his award to the civil servants of Ondo State, he commended them for their commitment and support.
The State Head of Service also appreciated the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, for the opportunity given to him to serve in such office, stressing that the industrial harmony in the state is not ordinary.
He advised civil servants to be diligent, serve with all their hearts and know that what they’re doing is for God and He has a way of rewarding them.
The event was witnessed by Ambassador Luyi Rotimi, the Olujigba of Ijigba; Mr Biodun Akintade, Permanent Secretary, Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Foluke Tunde Daramola, Acting Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs; Mr Bayo Phillips, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry Of Physical And Urban Planning; Professor Dayo Faduyile, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Matter, among other top government functionaries.
