……Give reasons.
A group, Akure North/South Local Government Youth Solidarity Movement have asked the ruling All Progressives Congress to disqualify a member representing Akure North/ South Federal Constituency, Mayokun Alade Lawson over breach of party guidelines to be eligible for election.
In a petition jointly signed by the Chairman of the group, Mrs Kemi Fatukasi and Secretary, Mr Akiniyi Olasehinde, said Lawson- Alade popularly known as ‘LAF’ is not a registered voter in Akure South Local Government.
“He has no valid voters card. At the last bye election for the vacant House of Representatives seat, the Rep member did not vote for himself because he was not duly registered as a voter in the local government”, the group said.
“Imagine our Rep member not registered as a voter in the local government he claims to be representing.”
Lawson Alade was also alleged not to be a card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The Youth movement said the group find it difficult to believe that APC could give the ticket to someone who is not known as a registered member of the party.
“It is rather appalling that All Progressives Congress could trade his ticket”
“Party membership is the most important tool for standing any election in the country”
The group urged the leadership of the party to do the needful such that the ugly trend do not repeat itself in future elections.
