Ondo State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Hon. Femi Agagu, Chairman Civil Service Commission and former Head of Service in Ondo State, Prince (Barr.) Ajose Kudehinbu, Commissioner for Health in Ondo State, Dr. Banji Ajaka who was represented by Dr. Logo and others prominent government personnel have commended HRM Oba Ajibola Oluyede, the Alayede of Ayede-Ogbese and his amiable wife, Olori Olufunmilayo Nejo-Oluyede for their royal philanthropic gestures towards the development of Ayede-Ogbese people and community.
The Alayede of Ayede Ogbese kingdom, HRM Oba Ajibola Oluyede and his amiable wife, Olori Olufunmilayo Oluyede, have celebrated children of Ayede-Ogbese in grand style at the Children’s Day.
The programme which was organized by the duo yesterday, Saturday, 28th May, 2022 at the Royal Ranch, Ayede Ogbese, Akure North, Ondo state by 1:00pm, on the universal theme: “A Better Future for Every Child”
Speaking with Coastal Renaissance news, the initiator, HRH Olori Olufunmilayo Nejo-Oluyede (a globally renowned women and children’s rights activist) stressed that the event is a United Nations international observance with a global theme which urges the public to advocate, celebrate and promote children’s rights, so as to effectively secure the future of every child universally.
According to the distinguished queen, an investment in the future of our children is in effect a worthwhile crucial investment in that of the nation -and indeed the world.
The programme which started at exactly 1:00pm with opening prayer from Pastor Alade Micah Phillip, followed by National Anthem which was rendered by a choir of 5 different schools.
The opening address was delivered by the Chairman of the occasion, Prince (Barr.) Ajose Kudehinbu, Chairman Civil Service Commission, Ondo State.
Prince Kudehinbu in his remark, commended the relentless efforts of Oba Ajibola Oluyede and his wife, Olori Olufunmilayo for the humanitarian gestures towards the people of Ayede-Ogbese. He further applauded their decision to celebrate the children in grand style. He then appealed to them to continue in that direction of human capital development.
The representative of the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in Ondo State, Mrs. Helen Odofin while delivering the Commissioner’s address appreciated the efforts of Kabiyesi and Olori for organising a great occasion of Ayede-Ogbese 2022 Children’s Day Celebration and Health Fair. She also commended Ayede-Ogbese Woman Vanguard for their efforts towards the celebration.
She finally appealed to all parents to ensure that they teach their children on the right part of moral rectitude and obedience to the Law of the land.
“Parents have greater roles to play in shaping and instilling the right values into their wards. They must inculcate in them the fear of God and the understanding of the principle of right and wrong. They must shun cultism and other anti-social behaviour that may stand on their way to greatness”.
High Chief Femi Fajenbimo, the Lisa of Ayede-Ogbese Kingdom who spoke on behalf of Oba Ajibola Oluyede, appreciated all the VIP for honouring the Kabiyesi and Olori to attend the occasion. He said, Kabiyesi and Olori have transformed Ayede-Ogbese beyond human understanding and prayed that God would grant them more power, grace and strength to do more for the people and the land.
“Kabiyesi and Olori have demonstrated to Ayede-Ogbese people what good leadership is all about. They are greatly loved by the people”.
The report from 1million teachers was given by the Coordinator, Mrs. Bukola Arowosegbe, stressing that Olori has done so much in assisting and enrolling the teachers for modern training for effective and efficient service delivery. She further announced that 50 more teachers have been registered again to partake in 1million teachers programme which would be sponsored by HRH Olori Olufunmilayo Nejo-Oluyede in commemoration of children’s day celebration.
After the report, quiz competition for 6 different primary and secondary schools was taken and the results were read by the chairperson of the Panel of Judges, Princess (Dr.) Banke Olagbegi-Oloba, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State.
The primary school who got the first position was CAC Nursery and Primary School while the 2nd Position was St. Mary Nursery & Primary and 3rd Position was Divine Mercy Catholic Nursery & Primary, all the schools are from Ondo State.
On Secondary Schools, the 1st position was Salvation secondary school, 2nd Position – Islamic Secondary school and 3rd position was Glorious-Goodnews Academy Secondary School, all from Ondo State.
In the same vein, Debate competition was observed with the topic: ‘An indigenous language should be adopted as medium of instruction in schools’. Supporting the motion was Providence Model College, Ayede-Ogbese while Community Comprehensive High school, Ayede-Ogbese opposed the motion.
At the end of the competition, Providence Secondary School got the first position while Community Secondary School got the second position.
After the quiz competition, awards of good performance were given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in both primary and secondary schools. Also on debate, awards of excellent performance were given to 1st and 2nd positions. More so, awards of outstanding performance on Cultural Display were given to Victory Academy, Ayede-Ogbese and Master Akinwumi Ezekiel who rendered Ewi Rendition.
The Panel of Judges were: Princess (Dr) Banke Olagbegi-Oloba, Adekunle Ajasin University (Chairperson), Mrs. Bunmi Arajuwa, Director, AMOTEKUN, Mrs. Bukola Arowosegbe, 1MT, Prince Rotimi Folademi Michael, Director, Code of Conduct Tribunal, Abuja, Mrs. Kike Owolabi, Chair, NBA Ikere-Ekiti and Mr. Seyi Oshin, Director, EC, Akure (Timekeeper).
