…..Why we constituted Committees —Fatai Adams
The People’s Democratic Party Ondo State has inaugurated reconciliation committees aimed at settling any issues that might have arisen during the party’s primary elections with a view to bringing all stakeholders on the same page in the overall interest of the party.
The State Chairman Hon. Fatai Adams said the committee members are carefully selected leaders with proven records of dedication and commitment to the party and express confidence in their ability to deliver on the mandate.
Chairman and Secretary, Reconciliation Committee(South) are: Dr. Omotayo Dairo and Alhaji Sodiq Obanoyen respectively
Chairman and Secretary Reconciliation (Central) are: Dr. Bakkita Bello and Hon. Amuwa Benson respectively
While Dr. Eddy Olafeso heads Reconciliation Committee(North) and Hon Bayo Alarapon serves as the Secretary.
The State Chairman equally urged the candidates to take the reconciliation agenda to their co-contestants in order to get the best out of the exercise.
Addressing newsmen after the inauguration ceremony at the party’s Secretariat at Alagbaka, Akure, the Ondo State capital, the Chairman, Hon Fatai Adams said the move for reconciliation of party members who have reservations during and after the party’s primaries was important ahead of the general elections.
He said the party’s leadership had resolved to reconcile all contestants in the last party’s primaries so that the party would go into the 2023 general elections as a united force.
Although Adams said none of the contestants had said anything untowards after the primaries, but added that the reconciliation was necessary.
The party’s chairman said: “In Ondo State according to the law in operation, which says it’s only elected delegates who were elected for the purpose of participating in the election of candidates for political parties that can vote.
“For the national convention, for Ondo State, we have 18 delegates. One per local government. It is so in other states. For the national convention, we supposed to have 774 delegates but because of what happened in a few states, we had 769 delegates.
“The inauguration of party’s reconciliation committee. As a political party, when we have programmes such as congresses, primaries, we are bound to have some pockets of issues across the 18 local governments.
“You cannot say everything is good. We are not angels. In order to put our house in order and prepare ourselves ahead of the 2023 general elections as a united family, we have to reconcile ourselves. We have different tendencies, ideas, opinions, so, we must bring everybody on board to work together.
“We invited 15-member reconciliation committee, five members per each of the senatorial district. We have three teams, one team for each of the senatorial districts,” Adams said.
