Mimiko Condemns Owo Attack, Calls for Urgent Action

Dr Olusegun Mimiko, former governor of Ondo state, has condemned the gunmen attack on unarmed worshipers at St Francis Catholic Church Owa-luwa, Owo in Ondo state.

Mimiko, in a statement by John Paul Akinduro, his Special Assistant on Media and Digital Communications, said “the Owo massacre is a condemnable act and it assaults our humanity and bludgeons our sensibilities”

The former governor also called on the state government to take “immediate action to mobilize all available healthcare assets to Owo and if need be call for assistance from neighbouring States so as to be able to save as many as possible of those who were wounded in the attack”.

He also called on the government to apprehend and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to immediate justice.

Mimiko commisserated with the government and people of Ondo state, Owo Kingdom, the Catholic diocese of Ondo and families of the victims.

According to him, “We stand with the government and people of Ondo State. We stand in solidarity with the Olowo and the people of Owo, the Catholic diocese of Ondo and condemn this satanic attack in its entirety.

“I have placed a call through to Kabiyesi to commiserate with him and the good people of Owo kingdom on the huge loss recorded from the attack. I have also contacted the State government to express my condolences and solidarity in the face of this unimaginable terror attack”.

Mimiko also called on every resident to be alert and, vigilant so as to nip any illegality and repeat attack in the bud.

OWO ATTACK: AJIPE BEMOAN ATTACK ON CHURCH WORSHIPPERS

The Convener of Ibi Giga Ambassadors and one of the leading aspirant in the just concluded primary election of APC in Ondo North Senatorial Districts, Chief Dr Alex Ajipe , has condemned the early Sunday morning bandits attack on St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo Local Government Area  that led to the killing of several people.

Ajipe in a statement in Akure on Sunday by his Media Aide Solomon Adewoye described the killing as terribly inhuman and barbaric saying the perpetrators must not go unpunished.

Ajipe said the killing of innocent worshippers by unidentified gunmen, is not only devastating and despicable but has become a new dimension of terrorism in the country.

According to him “This dastardly act further confirms the fear of the insecurity of life and property by law abiding citizens.”

The Owo born politician also urged the federal and state governments to find lasting solutions to the incessant killings in Kidnaping in the country.

“I am saddened over the killing of my people in Owo today. It is barbaric and I call upon the security agencies in the state as a Matter of urgency to fish out the perpetrators.

“I  condemn in totality these senseless killings and call on both the Federal and Ondo State Governments to wake up and take serious their constitutional responsibility of protecting lives and properties in the state.”

Ajipe acknowledged the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari and the security agencies in Ondo state but pointed out that much still need to be done in the area of security in the country.

He further commended the Ondo State Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the job well done on security in the state through AMOTEKUN calling on the federal government to support the state in order to arrest the perpetrators

“I call on people of the state to put politics behind them and collectively emancipate the citizenry from the trouble that is enveloping us.

“As an ardent member of the All Progressives Congress, I plead with the APC led Federal government to take more proactive steps in bringing the resurging security situation in Nigeria and Ondo state in particular under control. Ajipe said

Ajipe however commiserated with the Christian community, the Olowo of Owo, entire Owo people  and especially the Catholic bloc whose brethren experienced the havoc.

Pastor Jide Ipinsagba condemns Owo killings, Condoles with Government and People of Ondo State

The All Progressives Congress Senatorial Candidate representing Ondo North Senatorial Districts, Pastor Jide Ipinsagba has condenmed the explosion and the killing  that rocked the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo.

The level of killing at the Church is “outrageous’’ and not acceptable  How can some people just wake up from no where and started to kill his or her fellow men unjustly without any recourse.

This evil act is condemned in the strongest term because the killing is aimed to cause confussion and cause war into our land and we will not succumb in their antics.

I call for full-scale investigation into the incident to unravel those behind the waton killing as I urge all concerned security agencies to be on their toes by do everything to bring the perpetrators behind the killing to book.

I also mourns the dead, condoles with their families of those who lost their lives in the incident, the Catholic Church, and the Government and the people of Ondo State and prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
