‘Liberal Platform Foundation’ visits Owo, supports Victims with N3Million Donation

….says “We are losing our sleeps in Yorubaland”

Members of a non-Governmental & non-partisan Organisation, the LIBERAL PLATFORM FOUNDATION has condemned in its entirety, the June 5 gruesome killing of unharmed parishioners at the Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa street, Owo, saying it is not only wicked, but a cowardly act by the perpetrators.

The group’s members stated this on Tuesday during their visit to the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye and victims of the incident to commiserate with them.

Speaking on behalf of the foundation, its Founder, Honourable Demola Ijabiyi said what happened had made the people of Yorubaland to lose the sleep.

Ijabiyi declared that something must be done as the people continue the way

He said, “We are losing our sleeps in Yorubaland and Kabiyesi, we must do something. We cannot continue this way, something has to be done. We are worried, the nation is worried.

Ijabiyi however commended the state Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for his efforts at securing lives and properties in the state.

According to him, the governor has done a lot in this wise

“Our governor is trying. You cannot do more than he has done. He is protecting us with a strategy, with finance and physical means. He has been supporting the security agents and yet they are daring us in Yorubaland.”

He therefore called for urgency in stopping this wicked act.

“Something has to be done to stop the desecration of Yorubaland, to stop violation if our integrity, and I stop the violation of our peace,” Ijabiyi said.

Responding, Oba Ogunoye who appreciated the group for identifying with the people of Owo at this moment of grief said the incident did not just affected Owo only, but the whole of Yorubaland and indeed Nigeria.

The Olowo stated the people of the town which had been known to be a peaceful place never experienced it.

The monarch, however, said such occurrence should not be allowed to happen again.

He therefore called on all to begin to take necessary steps to guard our communities by being vigilant and security conscious.

According to Oba Ogunoye, this is just a phase which would definitely pass away.

Other members of the team on the visit included Dr Kunle Ogunmola, Princess Toyin Abuke Oludare, Mrs Oluwatoyin Adegbenro, Temitope Dare and Venerable Fadoju.

Meawhile, the Foundation later wednesday visited the scene of the incident and also commiserate with the church, family members of the deceased and injured victims.

A cheque of N3 million was later presented to the church by the Foundation to cater for victims of who were injuredin the attack.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the church, Bishop Jude Arogundade assured them that the money will be spent judiciously.

Arogundade who commended the foundation for group for their donation said it shows that they care for their fellow.

“You have come to show your humanity, you have come to show that you care about the survival, the welleing and the health of our people here in Ondo State”, the clergyman said.

He described the attack as a shock and surprise to everybody.

According to him, “they do it in the most cowardice way because a coward bounce at you and run away”.
