Ondo: Stop destruction of our farm land —200 Farmers beg Akeredolu

Farmers numbering 200 residing at Bisi Camp AO3A via Odigbo in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State have appealed to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, to rescue them from the hand of one Sweden who has been uprooting their Cocoa farms in the area.

Those farmers about 200 in numbers while Speaking with SUNSHINETRUTH in Odigbo, led by their spokesperson, Hon. Oluborode Olakunle in Odigbo said a company identified as Sweden Farm has bulldozed all their Cocoa farmland.

Hon. Oluborode who also noted that farmers residing at Bisi Camp have been loyal to the present administration of Governor Akeredolu by paying their #10,000 yearly due to the State Government.

He stressed that his last interrogation with Mr. Henry,the Bush Manager of the company, had earlier told the farmers that only Malina forest was sold by State Government and that Cocoa farms in the area would not be affected.

According to Hon. Oluborode Olakunle, Bush Manager of the company alleged of Ondo State Government of selling the Forest reserved from Bisi Camp to Asewele Community worth 100,000 hectares of land.

Another affected farmer with tears flowing, Adewumi Adekanmi lamented over their predicaments that the only hope of farmers who are farming in area has lost,.


He added virtually all villagers in the area as APC members actively participated in the last governorship election and as law-abiding Odigbo Indigenes they have always been loyal to the State of.

Across sessions of over 200 affected farmers however in Bisi Camp urged Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to help stop Sweden Farm from bulldozing their farmlands as it is their only source of living and their last hope.
