Ondo HoS speaks on Workers, pensioners who will forfeit benefits

…..REFRAIN FROM FRAUDULENT PRACTICES TO AVOID ABRUPT TERMINATION OF YOUR APPOINTMENT —PASTOR ADEYEMO WARNS PUBLIC SERVANTS

Ondo State Head of Service, Pastor Adeniran Adeyemo mni has warned Public Servants in the state to refrain from fraudulent practices that could lead to sudden termination of their appointment, thereby resulting to disgraceful exit from service and forfeiture of all their retirement benefits.

Pastor Adeyemo, who gave the warning while declaring open a one-day workshop organized by the Department of Public Service Reform and Development (DPSRD) for the Change Ambassadors of Ondo Service Improvement Programme (ODSIP) held in Akure, the state capital, advised all workers in the state public service to live within the salary and allowances statutorily attached to their positions and grade level while patiently waiting for their retirement day to enjoy the benefits of pension and gratuity.

The Head of Service, who is due for retirement in August this year, in what seem as his valedatory speech to the Ambassadors, charged them to remain focused on the tenets of ODSIP which is “To Give My Best for Better Society” and to make the interest of the public service the number one priority in order to move the state forward, while also enjoining them to engrave their names in making positive change and enduring development to the state civil service and the society at large.

He noted that the workshop which centres
on Performance Appraisal Template and Recapitulation was meant to assess their performance and train them on positive ways to further transform the public service for higher productivity, while also urging them to develop themselves in all the demands of their work schedule, especially in the area of communication skills, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for the purpose of efficient Service delivery and policy implementation as enshrined in the REDEEMED Agenda of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Pastor Adeyemo, who became the 14th Head of Service of the state on 12th March, 2021 highlighted some of his achievements within the short period in office to include among others computerization and extension of ODSIP operations to local government administration, approval of new civil service rules and regulations which was done last in 1999, computerization of verification and payment of pension and gratuity to retired Public Servants as well as cleaning up of the state payroll salary and pension to remove infractions and fraudulent practices from the system.

In his welcome address
the address the Administrative Secretary, of the department of Public Service Reform, Mr Adewale Omomowo reminded the Ambassadors of the need to intensify efforts in educating, enlightening and sensitising the Civil Servants across the MDAs to keep the tenets of ODSIP burning in their hearts to enhance the desired transformation of the civil service envisaged by founding fathers of the program.

Mr Omomowo noted that as part of strategies to fastrack the reform process, the Reform Office decided to upgrade the Change Ambassadors with Performance Appraisal Template as baseline to measure their performances in the respective MDAs thereby making their jobs and responsibilities easier as well as serve as catalyst for various reforms initiatives and development in the state civil service.

He expressed his appreciation to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN and the Head of Service for their continuous support and leadership role in the transformation and development of the state civil service.

Highlight of the workshop include goodwill message and presentation of gift to the Head of Service in appreciation of his immense contributions to the development of state public service and meritorious service to society at large by the Change Ambassadors.

In attendance at the workshop were the Permanent Secretaries of Establishment and Training Department, Mrs Olufunke Dare-atunse, Pension Transitional Department, Chief Dele Akinmoye, Service Matters Department, Mr Jimmy Afolabi, and Public Service Training Institute, Prophet Jide Ekpo.
