….ONDO BOYS TURNS UP FOR SUPERBOY BOOT CAMP

The office of the Special Adviser to Governor, Gender in collaboration with Superboy Outreach has organized Ondo Summer Boot Camp for Adolescent Boys between August 10th and August 17th, 2022 at the Christ the Redeemer Secondary School, Akure.

Participants from all the 18 Local Government Areas of the Sunshine State had turned up in large numbers with excitement at the Camp.

Superboy Boot Camp is coming on the heels of a necessity to also train the boy child against possible future challenges with the aim of handling general misconception about the boy child.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Special Adviser, Gender, Hon. Olamide Falana noted that the initiative is to prove that Gender Equality should not leave any Gender behind.

“It is important to consider the mental development of the Boy Child who the Girl Child will end up with eventually. Boys also need to be supervised and protected. It is high time we trained our boys early to avoid display of risky behaviors.”

The Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Education, Mrs Lola Amuda who was impressed at the large turnout at the Programme also described the initiative as unprecedented.

“Initiative of this nature that gives consideration to boys in the society is highly commendable because it motivates the boys. I give kudos to the organizers. This turnout is impresive and i know it will be more than this in the next edition.”

Mrs Taiwo Akindeko, Director, Superboy Outreach, Nigeria, described the initiative as one of the panacea for recent social ills.

“It has being observed that in our respective homes, the male child is treated as idol to live their world. They need to be trained early to face future challenges while the camp will offer them ample opportunity to relate with others and share knowledge.

Activities lined up for the maiden edition of the Camp include Tech Skills, Talent Hunt, Symposium, Film Show, Boy’s Discovery, Vocational Skills, Games,Music.
