It was another day of joy and honour for a Multiple award winner and philanthropist, Surveyor Kayode Oludare who on Tuesday, 16th August, 2022 received another Award of Excellence from the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) at the climax of events marking its 52nd Conference in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Another recipients of the award is the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN who was conferred with Honourary Fellowship Award.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Surv. Oludare said it is a great privileged to be honoured by the Institute at such an auspicious occasion.
While thanking the national body for the award, Surv. Oludare said it is a call to continue to serve within the codes of the profession and in line with world best practices.
The award of Excellent Contribution conferred on Surv. Oludare is in recognition of his pedigree and efforts in promoting the cause of humanity and in the building environment in the state in particular and in Nigeria at large.
The theme for the conference: ‘The Role of the Building Profession in the Management of National Assets” had earlier featured paper presentations with passionate call on government to impose strict punitive measures on individuals involved in building collapse.
Speaking during the conference, the President of NIOB, Prof. Yohana Izam emphasized the need for controlled regulations of buildings stressing that building collapses were mainly caused by quacks in the building industry.
While lauding the state Governor for giving builders enabling environment to operate in the state, he further noted that those honoured were distinguished deserving Nigerians who have made their mark.
Earlier in his remarks, the Governor described the association as indispensable in nation building just as he reiterated his administration’s commitment to good maintenance culture.
He, therefore, called on NIOB to brace up in its noble task of saving Nigerian populace from building collapse.
In a chat with newsmen, the state Chairman of NIOB, Dr Oluleye Akanni while noting that Executive Order 11 would open doors to a treasure of opportunities for young technicians, artisans and those operating in the building materials industry among others, congratulated those conferred with the Institute’s award just as he urged them to live up to the expectations.
On the goals of the conference, Dr. Akanni explained that the conference among others will allow participants to revisit and rethink their roles in the building profession and in the maintenance of the country’s national assets.
