Treachery is an unpardonable offence at Amotekun —Ondo Commander tells new officers

Ondo State Commander of Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye has threatened that the security network will not hesitate to sanction any newly recruited officer who engages in sharp practices such as bribery and betrayal

Adeleye described bribery, treachery, perfidy and betrayal as unpardonable and serious crimes in the agency.

Akogun Adeleye who doubles as the Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Security Matters, made this known in Owo on tuesday on 16th August, 2022, while on a security awareness campaign with the newly recruited officers of the corps, which took them round the streets of Owo metropolis.

According to him, the exercise has multidimensional advantages which range from keeping fit and creating awareness.

“We’re moving through the nooks and crannies of Owo to assure the people of the town, that there is no cause for alarm.

“Our security agencies in the state are up to the task and we’re assuring them that there won’t be any security breach .

Admonishing the new Corps, the Commander described them as warriors who must always be at alert in the defence of their people and their fatherland from all forms of both internal and external attacks, praying, that “Oodua” will protect them.

Adeleye admonished them to endeavour to actively protect the people of the state and the South West region and have their names written in gold.

“Remember, you are not a voluntary organization. You are the only security agency backed up by the law of Ondo State, therefore, to whom much is given, much is expected. You are all endorsed by highly rated people and you can not afford to disappoint them,” he cautioned.

“The training we have impacted in them is adequate enough for them to cope with the challenges of the job.

“These new sets are being trained to meet the present realities of the security challenges in Owo community and in the state and that is why they are tagged ‘special squad’.

“They came in at a situation when the security of the people is almost threatened, so we have to train them to cope with such challenges should it happen again in the future,” he said.

Commander, however, praised on the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for his continued interest and supports which had enabled the Corps to record successes in its various operations.

“Let me reiterate, that there is zero tolerance for all forms of crimes in Ondo State and from the available records, virtually all criminal activities would be adequately tamed, so, it is advisable for criminals to vacate the state or be captured,” Adeleye warned.
