***Calls for Calm.
For a smooth nomination for the vacant Ifon stool, in Ifon, headquarters of Ose Local Government, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN through his Deputy, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa has charged the leadership of Ifon Development Union ( IDU ) on the need to follow 1968 Declaration on the nomination of the new King.
The decision of government according to Aiyedatiwa comes on the heels of consultations with the critical stakeholders in the community.
The Deputy Governor made the clarification during the courtesy visit by the Ifon Development Union led by their President, Chief ( Dr ) Oluwafemi Awani in his Office on Tuesday.
Aiyedatiwa clarified that, “we had about two stakeholders meetings before we were able to resolve on the way forward on Olufon stool” .
“Going into history, on the previous Obas that had ruled in Ifon, you will find out that, there was no order, even though this declaration was in place” .
“Every Oba at that time, struggled for it .. its simply survival of the fittest” .
“And from history, you will find out that among all the Ruling Houses in Ifon, Eronogbe alone had ruled for about seven times… while some rulling houses ruled just one or two times” .
“For now, we are appealing on the need to be fair to all the Ruling Houses” , he said.
Continued, Aiyedatiwa said, “now that government want to bring order into the stool, we should start from number one, which is UMUAGBA RULLING House, and that is the position of government” , he said.
Aiyedatiwa then implored the delegation to aggregate their interests and engaged those interested for the vacant stool from Umuagba Rulling house.
He charged IDU and elders in the community to as a matter of urgency, mend fences and unite all.
“And as it’s stands, the current declaration is what we will follow” , he further said.
Earlier, IDU President, Dr Femi Awani appealed for the reinstatement of Ifon Reagent who was suspended, of which the Deputy Governor promised that government would look into the suspension and give directive accordingly.
