…..ODSEPA HOLD TALKS WITH DONOR AGENCIES AND SEASONED ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY EXPERTS
In its corporate social responsibility towards environmental sustainability, the Nigerian Bottling Company; makers of Coca-Cola conveyed a Stakeholders Forum tagged: Combating Climate Change Through Resource Efficiency in Lagos.
The event which was a convocation of environmental sustainability experts sought to explore new solutions and innovations to combat climate change in Nigeria.
The Forum equally provided a platform to highlight the global effects of Climate Change and effective actions towards mitigating the effects.
Issues that came out of the discussions includes; individual behavioural change towards making environmental awareness a way of life, so that mankind will not be waging war against nature.
On the part of the manufacturers, they are to endeavour to be responsible for the life circle of their products. Moving forward, Government should provide the enablement for all stakeholders in the environment space to strive towards achieving a circular economy that will engender environmental sustainability.
Speaking at the Summit, the Special Adviser to Mr Governor on Environment, Hon. Oyeniyi Oseni thanked the organizers for the well thought out initiative and also for partnering with OSEPA during its 2022 Summit on Plastic Waste Management held in Akure.
Oseni, however, pointed out that NBC’s presence has not been felt in Ondo State in the area of Plastic waste management as much as it has supported other States in the Country.
The occasion was also an opportunity for the OSEPA team which included the Acting Permanent Secretary, Princess Giwa Akorede Abosede to seek the support of other donor agencies to make their presence felt in Ondo State.
