ONDO SUBEB BOSS FELICITATES WITH TEACHERS ON WORLD TEACHERS DAY, CALLS FOR MORE RECOGNITION OF EFFORTS
As the world marks this year World Teachers Day today, professional teachers in Nigeria particularly in Ondo State have been been called upon to continue to discharge their duty as the conscience of the nation.
The Chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB Rt Hon Victor Olabimtan who described teachers as critical component of child development and nation building said without their contributions the world would have been a place of chaos where might rules.
Olabimtan said this in a Press Release issued on his behalf by Director of Press Ondo SUBEB, Bolu Ajijo.
The SUBEB boss who as a professional teachers Rose to the position of School Principal before venturing into politics enjoined teachers to continue to contribute their quotas the development of the Society.
According him, teachers, at all levels like parents are the most important factor that contributes to child moulding and development both in character and learning of the young ones.
The Chairman, SUBEB who said Ondo State Government under the watch of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu holds teachers in high esteem, hence he approved the appointment as Tutor- General and promotion of primary school teachers to GL 16 equivalent of Directors in the public service of the State who hitherto ends on GL 15.
Olabimtan averred that in addition to the promotion of teachers that merited it to different grade levels in the public service many have enjoyed both internal and external trainings to Sharpe their skills in child development and as subject specialists.
“As at last year the present administration has expended not less that N7.8 billion in infrastructure grading of primary school buildings including construction of fence to wardoff trespassers and land grabbers and safe guard live of personnel & properties in the school”.
“Further breaks down show that N6.6 billion was spent of renovation, N2.1.billion on furniture and water supply gulped over N 222 million as at 2020.
“He considers the huge investment of Akeredolus’ administration in basic education he expected his colleagues teachers in the State to reciprocate the good gusture with their unalloyed loyalty and commitment to duty
He called on them to continue to support and collaborates with the State Government in it’s avowed commitment to continue to improve the welfare of teaching and non teaching staff as well as upgrade the infrastructure and facilities to meet make teaching and learning more conducive in our schools
