Achievers University Graduates inducted as Professional Engineers

Over 23 Engineering students who recently graduated from the College of Engineering and Technology (COET) at Achievers University, Owo in Ondo State have been inducted by relevant bodies.

A don, Professor Christianah Ijagbemi has enjoined Engineers to come up with scientific solutions to societal problems amidst of climate change, in order to make life better for people.

Professor Ijagbemi said this today, Wednesday 7th December, 2022, during the 2021/2022 Induction Ceremony of students who recently graduated from the College of Engineering and Technology (COET) at Achievers University, Owo in Ondo State.

The induction is part of the ongoing 12th Convocation and 15th Anniversary of the University.

Professor Ijagbemi who is an Engineer and Director, Centre for Gender Issues in Science and Technology, at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, urged the newly inducted Engineering Graduates to use science and technology to solving issues common challenges especially transportation system to improve lifestyle of citizens.

Delivering a paper titled ”ENGINEERING AND CLIMATE CHANGE”, the Guest Lecturer, Prof Ijagbemi, noted that engineers were trained to tackle problems, hence the need for the newly inducted engineering graduates to put to use what they had been thought at the institution.

She described Achievers University as one of the best institutions in the training of Engineering Students, urging the authorities to sustain the good work of churning out brilliant engineers who can competent anywhere in the world.

Presenting the graduates for induction, the Dean of the COET, Engineer (Prof.) Sesan Ayodeji, expressed satisfaction with the event and congratulated the inductees, staff and the authorities of the school.

He lauded the rapid growth of the institution in the increase of the students population and the development of the institution at large.

Ayodeji urged the Inductees to play vital roles in supporting the growth and development of the country through the skills and knowledge they have acquired throughout their stay in the institution.

The Administration of Oaths to the Inductees was done by the Akure Branch Chairman of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Engr Stephen Bolawole.

However, over 23 Engineering students were inducted out of over 50 Engineering students, because majority are in their respective places for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

In an interview with some of the inducted Engineering students such as Adegboye Oluwatobi and Ihensekhien Leonora, expressed their happiness towards the Induction Ceremony and promised to make the institution proud and the country a better place through their academic acquisition.

Dignitaries at the event include; the Pro-Chancellor & Chairman Governing Council, Dr. (Hon) Bode Ayorinde;  the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Olabanji, Registrar, Rev. Conon Oladimeji, Chairman NSE Akure Branch, Engr. Stephen Bolawole, Dr. Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olaseinde, Engr. Dr. Jide Popoola, Engr. Prof. Samuel Dadamola, Engr. Dr. Henry Ojongbede, Engr. Dr. Nweoyi Lekam, amongst others.
