The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has introduced a special security measure during its interactive session with some key stakeholders in the state which inluded traditional rulers, political class, public office holders, artisans, media and community leaders.
The programme which was held yesterday, Monday 19th December, 2022 at DOT Event Center, along Oda Road, Akure was anchored by the NSCDC Ondo State PRO, ASCI Aidamenbor Daniel and declared open by the Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa who was represented by the Ondo State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Francis Igbasan
In an address, the new Commandant of the NSCDC, Ondo State Command, Olatundun Olayinka, said that “the interactive session was supposedly to fashion out ways to eradicate kidnapping and banditry in the state. And, also to educate and sensitize stakeholders on how to use modern gadgets for self-defence.”
The NSCDC Commandant opined that without collaborative efforts of the stakeholders and residents, the needed success of securing lives and properties by the NSCDC would not be achieved at a maximum level.
He then called for total cooperation of the Ondo State people.
He further encouraged the residents to give out adequate information that could assist in curtailing banditry and kidnapping in Ondo state.
He finally assured the residents that the security agencies in Ondo State are doing their best to make the state free from social vices and all forms of criminalities.
The Chairman of the occasion, Prince Elijah Lebi applauded the outstanding efforts of the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu CON SAN, in securing lives and properties of the Ondo State people.
Prince Lebi also commended the proactive approach and initiative of the Ondo State NSCDC new Commandant for organizing first of its kind interactive session with the relevant stakeholders in the state, stressing that the meeting would enhance mutual relationship between the NSCDC and stakeholders.
Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim and Akogun Tokunbo Modupe were the lead speakers at the event. Both speakers stressed the needs to protect lives and properties of the people, calling on the security agencies to double their works and pledged their total support for the NSCDC and other securities apparatus.
One of the major stakeholders who spoke at the meeting, Prince Biyi Poroye charged Nigerians on the needs to acquire modern gadgets as a self-defence to protect their lives and families.
Poroye called on the people of Ondo State to support Governor Akeredolu’s vision to make the state secured for investors.
He appealed to the stakeholders to support the initiative of the new Commandant of the NSCDC, Ondo State Command who is willing to go to extra miles in protecting lives and properties of the Ondo State people.
Following the positive impact of the agenda under discuss, all the participants consensually agreed on the need for a repeat performance of the interactive session, stating that the meeting is very loaded, educative and beneficiary in curtailing security challenge in the country, stakeholders thereby chose 30th January, 2023 for another session at the same venue.
