GIRLS EMPOWERMENT TRAINING SKILLS (GETS 5.0): HON. TOMIDE AKINRIBIDO PRESENTS EQUIPMENTS, MACHINES & START-UP KITS TO PARTICIPANTS
The Honorable Member Representing Ondo West Constituency 1 at the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Tomide Akinribido, in the company of his wife, Princess Omowumi Akinribido,has presented equipments, machines and start-up kits to participants of the fifth (5th) edition of his annual skills acquisition programme for ladies in his constituency, at a brief graduation ceremony.
The epoch-making event held yesterday, Thursday 26th of January,2023 at the Akiavic Hall, Ondo City.
A significant attendance of dignitaries led by the former Governor of Ondo state H.E Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, former Ondo state PDP Chairman Hon. Ebenezer Alabi, Vice Chairman of Ondo West PDP Hon. Rufus Adeyemi Ojikutu, former member of the Ondo state House of Assembly Hon Afolabi Akinsiku, Ondo central PDP Senatorial candidate Bashorun Ifedayo Adedapo (SAN), and Ondo East/West PDP House of Representatives candidate Dr. Felix Kehinde made the event a glamorous one.
The political bigwigs applauded Hon Akinribido for his initiative to empower young girls.
While speaking at the event, Hon. Akinribido, reiterated his commitment to human capacity development as an integral aspect of the numerous social interventions he had sponsored as a lawmaker.
He went further to emphasize the importance of skills acquisition as an antidote to unemployment and crime reduction amongst the youths of the country.
He posited that to promote self-reliance and entrepreneurship,government at all levels must invest largely on equipping the youths with beneficial skills.
On her part,the CEO of Jewel Fashion House, Mrs Folasade Osungbemiro spoke on the vision that led to the GIRLS EMPOWERMENT TRAINING SKILLS(GETS) initiative.
She charged the graduands and beneficiaries to make good use of the equipments provided to them in order to earn a living and sustain themselves economically.
Graduands and Beneficiaries were picked from different classes ranging from Fashion designing,Hair dressing,Make-up artistry and confectionaries.
After being presented a certificate of completion,brand new equipments were presented to the beneficiaries such as; sewing machines, hair dressing kits and dryers, Make-up boxes and ring lights,baking kits and utensils…amongst others.
Also present at the event were youth leaders across Ondo Kingdom which include; Mr Folajogun Kayode- OEYC President and Mr. Famakinwa Lucas-EYC President.
