VAPP LAW: Apologize To Hon. Borokini For Misleading The Public Over The Motion Of The Bill — OCMT Blasts Hon. Tomide
*** You owe your constituents an unreserved apology for lying to them over what you claimed to have done and you did not do – OCMT tells Tomide
The OMO Campaign Media Team (OCMT) has been inundated with calls and messages from the constituents of Ondo West 1 for some weeks over a claim by the outgoing MHA of the constituency, Hon. Tomide Akinribido that he was the one who moved a motion on the floor of the state house of assembly for the passage of Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Department – NAPTIP.
It will be recalled that during one of the video clips released by Hon. Tomide to tell his constituents what he has been able to achieve in the house, he told the people in the video that he was the one that moved a motion for the introduction of VAAP in the house as a way to hoodwink the good people of Ondo west constituency 1, after he has been rightly accused of not been able to move a single motion in the house since 2019 as an indication of his inactive, always supporting the motion and poor representation as a lawmaker.
After our thorough investigation of who moved the motion on the floor of the house, we found out that the motion was moved by the lawmaker representing the good people of Akure South constituency 1, Hon. Simeon Toluwani Borokini.
Hon Borokini on the floor of the house mentioned that Ondo state is the only state in the Southwest yet to pass the bill into law, and the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun claimed not to know anything about the bill.
Later the First Lady of Ondo state, Chief (Mrs) Betty Akeredolu after the Governors Wives Conference came again to say she felt embarrassed Ondo state was mentioned not to have passed the VAAP law, and something urgently must be done to ensure the bill becomes a law in the state.
Then, it was recalled that Hon. Borokini had earlier mentioned it too on the floor of the House; and an ad-hoc committee was set up in which the mover of the bill, Hon. Borokini was appointed to Chair.
In the committee, Hon.Tomide was appointed as a member but only attended the meeting once, due to the reasons best known to him and even the day Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON assented to the bill, Hon. Tomide did not attend the ceremony, as evidence that he has not been representing the constituency well, since 4 years.
Hon. Tomide did not only lie on this bill, he hoodwinked his people to say he brought relief materials to residents affected by the flood in 2019 in the New Town area which he never did, the channel of waterways in Lipakala, which was done by the Local Government Chairman.
He also claimed that he organised free UTME coaching for the students who wrote the exams in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 which he did not do as he is still unable to provide the venue of the coaching after he was asked by concerned citizens to provide the venue as proof.
He went further to say he is giving market women little cash to stimulate their businesses since 2019 till date, only did that by giving 5,000 naira to five women, solely selected from his family street in 2019 when he celebrated his birthday and since then, he has not given money again.
It will be another 4 years of misleading, rejection and deceit should Hon. Tomide be voted in again to return to the house and the good people of Ondo west constituency 1 can not afford to send a prevaricator back to the house to continue representing them, as once beaten twice shine.
Our endorsed candidate, Otunba Moyinolorun Ogunwumiju(OMO) has provided answers to the demands of the people and he is ready to give them the effective and efficient representation they are clamouring for.
The March 18 house of assembly election will consign to the grave the political activities of the PDP in the Ondo kingdom.
Signed;
