EIMC Course-16 Participants visit Ondo-Linyi industrial hub, UNIMEDTH, Osemawe’s Palace

Participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course-16 of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Bwari, Abuja have continued their tour of Ondo State with visits to University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital in Ondo, Osemawe’s palace and the Industrial Park in Ore.

Speaking at Ondo Linyi Industrial Hub, Team Leader, Mr Bartholomew Omoaka explained the purpose of the visit, stating that the tour is crucial to impart on participants, the required knowledge to address security challenges as they understudy states to interrogate the course theme in fulfillment of the State Study Tour requirement.

Thomas Yang, Procurement and Administration Manager Wewood Limited Ondo Linyi who ranked the Company as the largest foreign Company in the State said since her existence about six years ago, various developmental stages have been carried out courtesy of Oluwarotimi Akeredolu-led Administration.

Yang appreciated the NISS Course-16 syndicates for identifying with the company as part of their tour destinations and thanked the State Government, under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON for giving them an enabling environment to operate.

Similarly, Administration and Public Relations Manager of the Company, Mr Omolayo Adewale stated that the environment is investor-friendly and the company has been able to break even through the years.

“Ondo Linyi produces and sells all the finished products, locally. We started with only plywood but today there are other products on our list such as Medium Density Fibre (MDF), High Density Fibre (HDF), production of ethanol, paper mill, POP ceiling board/cement, threads and textile fabrics with more under construction” he said.

Participants were taken round the factories for sight-seeing and were furnished details of the production process. Samples were also presented to the team as souvenirs for exhibition at their Institute.

At the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Ondo, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adesegun Fatusi and the management received the participants.

Professor Fatusi, while welcoming the team commended the Government for her role in addressing security sufficiently, emphasising the importance of Security and the need for National Institute of Security Studies to network with Educational Institutions to better enlighten young minds in the increasingly dynamic environment.

Fatusi, hinted that UniMEDTH with the slogan “Quality or Nothing” has proven to be a successful Institution of learning, saying it is a public school which administratively operates with private standards.

In the same vein, the Chief Medical Director of UniMEDTH, Oluwole Ige who was represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr Micheal Gbala said all required structures were out in place by government and the institution to ensure sustenance and improvement.

Participants were shown the giant strides the citadel of learning has to offer and various sections that make up the school were visited.

They were at the Obstetrics and Gyneacology department, Neo-natal Intensive Care unit (NICU) for premature babies and Five Hundred-bedded hospital hospital complex under construction.

At the Palace, Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo and the High Chiefs welcomed Participants to Ondo city.

Oba Kiladejo shared a brief history of the City and afterwards introduced Professor Femi Mimiko who gave a brief but concise speech in relation to the theme for the Course-16 tour.

In line with the theme of the tour, Professor Mimiko categorically stated that integration and interaction are of high importance to the society as well as globalization while noting that focusing attention on it would foster socio-economic development.

Mimiko stated that certain narratives must be followed to become real players in the global market.
