ODHA SPOKESMAN MOURNS EX-LAWMAKER
Akogun Olugbenga Omole,the Spokesman of Ondo House of Assembly has commiserated with the Family of a former member of Ondo State House of Assembly, Late Hon. (Chief) Patrick Adeniyi Akinyomi JP who was laid to rest yesterday Friday 26th May, 2023 in his hometown Ilutitun,Osooro in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The Ex-Lawmaker passed on at the age of 77 on 26th of March,2023.
He was born on 9th June,1946 to the family of Akinyomi Pa James Akinyomi of llado clan and late Mama Mejolarun Akinyomi (Nee Ogunejumelo) Erekiti Luwoye in Okitipupa local Government Area of Ondo State.
Late Chief P.A Akinyomi JP had his elementary school education at St. Paul’s Anglican Primary School, llado-Olowosusi in 1960. He proceeded to Secondary Modern School, Ode-Irele in 1963. He further attended St. John’s/Mary’s Teachers Training College Owo in 1967.
He obtained G.C.E Ordinary level in January, 1969 and G.C.E advance level in 1971.
He graduated from the University of lle-Ife (now OAU) with B.A Hons in History and Christian Religious Studies in June,1974.He had his NYSC in 1974-1975 at Divisional Teacher’s Training College, Oron, Cross-River State.
Late Chief P.A Akinyomi JP was an astute educationist and a seasoned politician.He worked in various secondary schools as a teacher and rose to the peak of the career as a retired school principal.
Some of the schools where he served are as follows; Federal Education Officer at Teacher’s Training College, Eruwa 1975-1978; .Teacher at Methodist High School,Okitipupa 1984-1985
Principal at Erinje Grammer School, Ode-Erinje 1985-1988 Principal at lkoya Grammar School, lkoya 1989-1993 and he retired voluntarily in January, 1993.
He was the chairman P.TA Unity Secondary School, Ode-Aye between1989-1995. He led a group young mentors who ensured an Oba was installed in Iutitun community. He was the committee chairman that ensure the efforts of the group became a reality in record time.The Majuwa of Moribodo Kingdom was the result of the exercise.
Late P.A Akinyomi JP was a seasoned and astute politician. He served meritoriously in both elective and appointed positions in Ondo State government. During the military regime in 1995, he was appointed as a Director (Board Member) Ondo State Water Corporation Honourable member,House of Assembly, Ondo State,1979-1983.He was the first to be elected unopposed representing Ikale Division, Constituency IV in the House of Assembly
Some of the positions he held at the hallow chamber includes;
- Secretary, Education Committee 1979-1983
- Secretary, Local Government Committee 1981
- Chairman, Public Account Committee 1983
Late Hon. Chief Akinyomi JP was the first chairman of the Alliance for Democracy Party in Okitipupa Local Government in 1998. He was appointed as the special Assistant and later Senior Special the former Governor of Ondo State, Chief Adebayo Adefarati on Mass Mobilization, Orientation and Integration 2001-2003.
Omole described the Ex-Lawmaker who enjoyed a robust working relationship with during the Adefarati regime where they both served as aides to the former Governor.
Chief Akinyomi was my neighbour for 16 years in Akure, I had my political tutelage under him at some point. He was a committed, dedicated and courageous family and community leader,who left his indelible footprints on the sand of time. I have to be here today to pay my last respect to a man who has done a lot for humanity.
The Ex-Lawmaker finally bowed to the cold hands death on 26th March,2023 after protracted sickness.
Late chief P.A Akinyomi JP was married to two wives (Late Mrs F.M Akinyomi) and he is survived by Mrs B.O Akinyomi, children and grandchildren.
May his gentle soul rest in the bossom of the Lord in Jesus name.
