…..needs N20miliion to survive heart, brain diseases
Miss Mistura Badiru who is in pain for suffering from heart and brain-related diseases, now requires a sum of N20million to undergo two surgeries in India.
The 14-year-old was diagnosed to have a rheumatic heart disease of the heart and needed to be replaced. She was further diagnosed to have a vein of galen aneurysmal malformations of the mammalian brain.
The SS1 pupil was said to have been suffering from the ailments for quite some times and all the medications and treatments she had been undergoing have not been subduing the ailments, hence the need for surgeries .
A report from the Department of Radiology, University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State , written by one Dr Fatade, on the issue of Badiru stated, “The heart is enlarged with multi-chamber configuration and the left heart border reaching the left lateral chest wall.
“There is convexity of the left cardiac border and obliteration of the aortopulmonary window. There is also splaying of the carina.”
“The pulmonary vessels are engorged. No focal lung lesion is seen. The ribcage is normal.”
It concluded, “Overall features suggest cardiomegaly secondary to mitral valve disease -ECG and ECHO advised for further evaluation.”
Seeking financial assistance for his daughter, the father of the victim, Mr Muritala Badiru said the family has been battling with the health issue of Mistura for the past few years, adding that the matter had already exhausted the family financially. He called on Nigerians to assist the family .
He said, ” She ( Mistura) has been suffering from the diseases for some years now . When we discovered the matter, we took her to the UCH where she was diagnosed. It was recommended that she would undergo surgeries in India to cure the diseases which would cost a sum of N20million.
“We don’t have this money, the little have, we have been expended it on the ailment. We buy expensive drugs on weekly and monthly basis to sustain her. That is why I’m using this opportunity to appeal to the well-meaning Nigerians to assist me, to save the life of my daughter.”
