The one year imprisonment of a former councillor of Ero Ibuji/Mariwo ward in Ifedore local area of Ondo state, Hon Moses Bolarinde, by a Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, with an option of fine has been described as a mere politically motivated suit.
He was convicted on Tuesday 20th June, 2023, for alleged malicious damage of Ero Community Market by Magistrate Abu Olatunji, with one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) option of fine.
The bail condition was immediately met by Hon Bolarinde and granted interview with newsmen.
Speaking with newsmen, the former Councillor said he never involved in damaging of any market, noting that the the Regent of Ero town, Princess Aderonke Gbadesogun, and police had exonerated him of involving in such allegation, adding that he legally purchased the said land from the family that owned it.
Hon Bolarinde who alleged his Uncle, Olusanya Ogundipe who instituted the case of deliberately wanted to bring him down politically, said he had directed his lawyer, Barr Olumide Ogidan to file an appeal against the magistrate court’s decision at the Court of Appeal.
He noted that his uncle Ogundipe had instituted many litigations against him and his Bolarinde’s family due to family property/lands.
Hon Bolarinde expressed happiness that his political enemies failed in killing in politically, assuring his political associates, supporters and the people of Ifedore local government area of his continuous services to humanity in any capacity.
“I’m happy to be enjoying my freedom contrary to intention of my enemies who sponsored court case against me. I thank all my political leaders and friends. I will continue to serve my people; they can’t silent me politically.”
