The Ondo State Police Command, has arrested three Suspect from the north in connection with the recent kidnapping of the Chief Imam of Uso in Owo Council area, Alhaji Alli Ibrahim Bodunde.
The 67year-old Islamic Cleric was kidnapped at his Uso farm, while his family reportedly paid a ransom of two million naira before he regained his freedom.
Those arrested include; a 19yr-old Muinah Mohammed, a forty year old Isah Bello and his twenty year-old daughter, Aisha Bello.
Parading the suspects in Akure, the police spokesperson, Mrs Funmi Odunlami-Omisanya, said they were apprehended through an intelligence gathering, noting that they would be charged to court immediately.
Meanwhile, the kidnapped victim and Chief Imam of Uso, in Owo Local Government area of the State, Alhaji Alli Ibrahim Bodunde told newsmen when the suspects were paraded, that he was made to trek for six hours in the forest by his suspected abductors.
Bodunde, who was narrating his experience in the hand of his abductors at the Police headquarters said he was beaten for his inability to speak English during his interrogation by the suspected kidnappers.
The cleric who said his family paid N2 million as ransom before he was released by the suspected kidnappers said he was not given food or water for 48 hours during his stay at the den of the kidnappers.
According to him, his abductors had information about him as they reeled out his dossier to him.
But they were unable to collect his phone because they couldn’t see it where he kept it.
He disclosed that they made him trek for over six hours searching for where to hide.
Alhaji Bodunde disclosed that the abductors insisted that he should speak to them in pidgin English and must not speak Yoruba.
He said each time he mistakenly spoke Yoruba, he was beaten by his abductors. When they arrived in a place, they put his back to a tree and tied his hands to his back. His legs were also tied.
Negotiation with his family by the Kidnappers started when the leader of the gang joined them at the hideout.
Alhaji Bodunde disclosed that his abductors demanded N10million ransom for his release, but eventually his family paid N2 million before they led him back to his farm and released him.
When police detectives began investigation into the abduction, they tracked the telephone number used for the negotiation with the family and 40–year-old Isah Bello was arrested.
When he was arrested, it was discovered that her daughter who collected his old SIM.
