12TH NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF ASSYLLCEN: Engr. Bally Declares 3-Day Summit Open

Yesterday, the chairman of the 12th national conference of the Association of Yoruba Lecturers in Colleges of Education in Nigeria, Engr. Ayotunde Bally declared open the 3-day conference of this year currently going on at the Olusegun Obasanjo auditorium, Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.

This year’s conference is tagged “Emerging Perspectives in S.M Raji’s Literary Works”, with the total aim of a holistic approach and views to the impact of Dr Raji’s journals in schools and colleges across the country, especially for the advancement of Yoruba language and its uniqueness to the educational development as a whole.

While declaring the symposium open, the chairman of the event, Engr. Ayotunde Bally extolled the great contribution of Dr S.M Raji to the educational sector in Nigeria, through various journals both local and international he has published in Yoruba; which has helped to unravel the importance of Yoruba to our culture and the language has demystified the factual roles and prominence of the language in building a just and egalitarian institution.

In his words, ” It is almost exhilaration as the chairman of this year’s 12th conference of Association of Yoruba Lecturers in Colleges of Education in Nigeria that I welcome you to this great citadel of learning, Adeyemi College of Education here in Ondo kingdom, where we place primacy to Yoruba culture and values. I sincerely welcome our chief host and the Provost of this College, Dr S A. Akintunde, Dean, School of Languages Dr T. A. Fawehinmi, our amiable lecturers from the Department of Yoruba, Professors and Drs in Yoruba from the Universities of Lagos, Ibadan and OAU, lecturers from Oyo Special, from Yola, Niger state and students of this great department and all the guests to this epoch intellectual summit. I enjoin our Profs and lecturers from various colleges who came from other states to use this opportunity to explore our culture in Ondo kingdom and find time to enjoy the good atmosphere of this kingdom outside the College and I hereby officially declare this summit open” – Engr. Bally

During the day 1 summit, Professor C.O. Orimoogunje from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) delivered the first lecture of the conference on historical facts about Yoruba while Dr W.O. Sangotoye from Federal College of Education, Kontagora, Niger state delivered the first paper of the conference “General Review of Scholars in Work of Literature”

The conference is expected to last for three days from Tuesday, July 11th to Thursday, July 13th, 2023.

Engr. Ayotunde Bally was represented at the summit by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Sam Olorunfemi Jr and some members of the MOVEMENTNG
