…..As Ex-Lawmaker bags a Distinguished Community Award.
As part of efforts to encourage youths development, the Chairman of the 9th Ondo State House Committee on Information, Sports and Youth Development, Hon Olugbenga Omole has invited an Ex-Nigerian Super Eagles Goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, to grace the final of the 2023 Akogun Annual Football Competition slated for Oka Akoko in Ondo State on Friday 4th August, 2023.
This year’s edition kicked off on June 26, 2023 and will end tomorrow.
The competition couldn’t hold in 2020 due to outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
The competition which started 6 years ago, is being singlehandedly sponsored by Hon Omole who is also the Akogun of Oka Kingdom.
Speaking on the forthcoming 2023 final of the competition, Akogun Omole said “the products of the previous editions of the Competition are already plying their trades in various football clubs across the the country and beyond
“Each year I bring in and collaborate with ex-international to serve as an inspiration to the young footballers in my area and beyond.”
In view of his efforts at developing youths through various programmes including the football competition, Akogun Omole will be honoured by his community during this year Oka Day celebration.
The former lawmaker will be recognized for his youth empowerment and he shall bag “the Pillar Of Sports and Youth Development”.
Other ex-Super Eagles players who have been in Ondo State for the previous editions of Akogun Football Competition included; Ben Iroha, Dosu Joseph and Mutiu Adepoju among.
