…urges President Tinubu to strengthen Modular refineries to boost Nigeria’s economy

Niger Delta Youth Parliament (NDYP), has honoured Minister designate, Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo with ‘Niger Delta most outstanding legislator award’, thus, declared him as ‘Youth National Asset’.

The motion for the award was moved yesterday, Friday 11th August, 2023 at the plenary session held at Nigeria Army Resource Centre, FCT, Abuja by Comrade Akin Raymond Omojuwa, Minority Leader of NDYP and seconded by Hon. Adaye Bob-Manuel, honourable member representing Asalga/Akulga Federal Constituency.

The Speaker, Niger Delta Youth Parliament (NDYP), Rt. Hon. Ifon Daniel Samuel while adopting the motion for the award also declared Bunmi Tunji-Ojo as ‘Youth National Assert’ of the Niger Delta Region.

The Speaker while speaking, said that the award was given to Bunmi Tunji-Ojo in recognition of his outstanding and unbeatable Legislative Giant Strides as former Chairman, House Committee on NDDC.

Hon. Thalis Apalowo, Legislative Assistant to Hon. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo while receiving the award on behalf of boss appreciated Niger Delta Youth Parliament for recognising the humanitarian and selfless services of his boss to the Niger Delta Region while serving as Chairman, House Committee on NDDC at the green chamber.

Also at the plenary, other prevailing issues and state of the nation were discussed as the following communique was made:

  1. that the Federal Government as a matter of urgency resuscitate all the moribund refineries in Nigeria and issue new license to individuals or group of individuals to build more refineries across all the geo-political zone in the country.
  2. that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR should embrace liberalisation and encourage establishment of local modular refineries, hence engage illegal local refiners for international training, stressed that approval of local modular refineries in oil producing communities would usher in a rapid development of a new Nigeria we dreamed of.
  3. that the Niger Delta Youth Parliament (NDYP) commends the Federal Government Of Nigeria and bold step taken by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the recent removal of fuel subsidy with a view to repositioning Nigeria’s economy. However, while it is one thing to remove fuel subsidy, it is another thing if not the most important thing to follow up and actualize the said purpose why it was removed, hence, the Niger Delta Youth Parliament hereby call on the Ministry Of Petroleum to monitor day-to-day activities of all the personnel saddled with the responsibility of executing President Tinubu’s policies in the oil sector with a view to ensuring effective service delivery and proper implementation.
  4. that the state government should establish Oil-Producing Areas Development Commission in Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Rivers States with the following abbreviations – AISOPADEC, BASOPADEC and RISOPADEC respectfully, to take care of the Developmental challenges of mandate areas.
  5. that Nigeria’s educational systems should be strengthen and encouraged in terms of infrastructure and teachers’ welfarism, noting that this approach will secure a better future for Nigeria’s educational sector.
