Women’s World Cup: Host Oluwatosin Demehin, Football Stakeholders urge Ondo State Government

Football Stakeholders have appealed to the Ondo State Government to host Ilaje born Super Falcons player, Oluwatosin Demehin.

Demehin was one of the Super Falcons players who performed extraordinarily at the ongoing Women’s World Cup holding in Australia/Newzealand .

The Ilaje born defender featured in all the Super Falcons matches before they were edged out at the Quarter Finals by England.

The Convener of Ondo State Football Stakeholders Forum and Pioneer Secretary of Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), Otunba Dele Ologbese in a statement issued, signed and made available to newsmen in Akure said if Oluwatosin Demehin contemporaries were hosted and celebrated by their respective States Governors due to their sterling performances at the Women’s World Cup, saying nothing should stop Ondo State Government from honouring her .

Ologbese added that it’s high time Ondo State Government do away with the habit of ignoring deserving athletes who brought honour to the State through their extraordinary exploits in football, athletics and other sports.

Ologbese, who’s the immediate past Vice Chairman of Ondo State Football Association called on the state Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa to facilitate the hosting of the former Sunshine Queens and River Angels player by the State Government.

“The Commissioner for Sports shouldn’t pretend not knowing that her contemporaries in Super Falcons were hosted by their respective State Governments and awarded bountifully.”

He said :”We have unsung heroes in this respect in Ondo State like Zion Ogunfeyimi who is the first Ondo State indigene to play for the national football team- Green Eagles, Kikelomo Ajayi who captained Super Falcons for many years and featured in three World Cups, Coach Wemimo Mathew who is a former international and current Coach of U-20 Female Team- Flamengos, Seun Ogunkoya the merculiary athlete, Odunayo Adekuoroye and host of others who are yet to be given needed honours.”

“In the absence of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, we have a caring hearted and highly resourceful Acting Governor, and Sports enthusiast, Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, whom I believe wouldn’t hesitate in designing a clear cut policy on athletes motivation”

“We call on Mr Acting Governor to please host Oluwatosin Demehin in his office in the next few days.”

“I’m very sure that the successful hosting of Olutosin Demehin will open door for other athletes who have brought glory to the State to be honored”, he said.
