Ikaram Akoko-born and American-based Community Leader, Chief (Dr) Odomode Adeyemi Ololade Opemipo LaCrown has boosted education sector in Ondo State with the donation of books worth over 10million naira to schools in the state.
According to the Donor, the learning materials were shipped into Nigeria early this year from the United States of America to promote science, technology, English, and mathematics (STEM).
The distribution of the books to benefitting schools was held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, with several school administrators gathered at Ikaram Unity Guest House in Ikaram in Akoko Northwest local government area of Ondo State, to collect the textbooks donated to Akoko Schools by Chief Odomode Adeyemi Ololade Opemipo LaCrown.

Chief Adeyemi LaCrown opined that “For any student to do well and compete in the global space with their contemporaries, they need to have the right tools for learning. This starts with having the right textbooks”
As early as 7am, volunteers started arriving the storehouse, even from neighboring towns, to arrange the books by subjects and authors. It was a huge task, but it was a very exciting and rewarding exercise, as echoed by Afeez Mohammed, who coordinated the volunteer team.
The school administrators started gathering at the Unity Guest House by 10 am to meet the donor who was overseeing the whole exercise. After a brief meeting where the donor, Dr Adeyemi LaCrown, shared his passion for education with the administrators and the need for them to embrace their position in nation-building and career development, it was time for questions and answers.
This segment lasted for about half an hour as the school administrators complained about so many issues that range from lack of teachers and dilapidated school buildings to not having the necessary curriculum books available for teaching.
“Looking at some of the pictures presented to the donors and the poor state of learning for students, it was a horrible scene to imagine how we always expect brilliancy from our children but no basic tools and enabling environment to achieve the result.
Dr Adeyemi Opemipo LaCrown, who attended Ahmadu Bello University Medical College in Zaria, Kaduna state, before immigrating to the United States of America promised to intensify on his efforts by seeking collaborators to help him with what he learned from the visitors.
The collection of books that were already arranged into segments by the volunteers and to be delivered to the various school administrators present started around 1 o’clock.
It was also gathered that some community libraries in Akoko area would benefit from the book giveaway exercise, while schools that were unable to make it for the first day will still get their own books.

Just recently, he sponsored the Akoko Unity Cup, a grassroot football competition across all the Akoko towns and villages to recruit and promote his Odomode Adeyemi LaCrown football academy.
