Hon. Abiola Oladapo, a lawmaker representing Ondo West Constituency 2 in the State House of Assembly, has distributed books and other writing materials to students in his constituency at the ongoing free summer lessons he organised across his political wards.
The lawmaker who made the distribution during his visit to venues of the summer lessons, equally called for more investments in education.
Hon. Oladapo explained that the free summer lessons for students of both primary and secondary schools across all the wards of Ondo West Constituency 2 were initiated to encourage youths to take education as an important tool for development.
He noted that education remains one undefeated tool to liberate the mind of the upcoming generation and to set them on a path that they will be fit to take on the challenges of life as well devise solution to life issues ranging from finance, technology, health, governance and other facets of life.
While describing education as the key to the future, the MHA urged the students to take education serious to their own advantage and national development.
“I just came around to encourage and support the initiative that I started a month ago to develop the students educational background. Students would too benefit from our scholarship programmes.
“Thousands of students across my constituency are benefited from the summer lesson programme. Learning aids were also given to the students. This is just a motivator for the students, they must take their studies serious.”
“I believe education is the most important tool you can receive, that can bring you most success in society today. Education lessens the challenges you would face in life.
“The more knowledge you gain the more opportunities will open up to allow individuals to achieve better possibilities in career and personal growth.
“I also believe education is important because it helps us develop a unique perspective of looking at life. Education has played a major role for all individuals in the society. It has allowed the community to succeed both socially and economically by enabling it to develop common culture and values”, the lawmaker said.
He encouraged parents to do everything possible to educate their children.
The lawmaker, however, called for more government investment in education, just as he appealed to corporate and private organisations to also join hands with the government to move the sector forward.
Hon. Oladapo who used the occasion to appreciate the managements of the schools used as centres, the tutors and other inspection committees, also lauded the large number of students in the various centers as well as their commitment to growth of their prowess in education.
He said he is committed to enhancing access to education of young people in the Constituency, noting that students who have distinguished themselves in the summer coaching will be awarded scholarship to ease their educational pursuit.
The students expressed their sincere gratitude to the people loving Honourable for the benignity they have been enjoying from him since he assumed office few months ago.
The management officials of the schools lauded Hon Oladapo for being a thoughtful leader who has been bringing fresh ideas on board which the Constituency has never experienced in a very long time.
